Apple iPhone 13 to add an orange color to its palette

Posted: 07 Jun 2021 06:26 AM PDT

For every new iPhone generation Apple picks a new hero color – last year it was blue, before that it was green. This year it could be orange as can be seen in the latest renders by Ian Zelbo (who also rendered the MacBook and MacBook Air). This is a rather bright color, isn't it? Keep in mind that the Apple typically splits the hero color in two, i.e. the "Pacific Blue" of the iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max is less saturated than the "Blue" of the 12 and 12 mini. This was the case with the 11-series as well ("Midnight Green" vs. "Green"), plus the finish is different (matte for the Pros and...

Rumor: the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 and Z Flip3 can be up to 20% cheaper

Posted: 07 Jun 2021 05:39 AM PDT

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 cost $2,000/€2,000 at launch, later dropping to $1,800/€1,800 and now even less. Make no mistake though, it is still a very expensive device. There may be some good news on the horizon – rumor has it that the next generation of Galaxy foldables will be up to 20% cheaper at launch. Note the "up to". If Samsung does find a way to knock a fifth off the price, the Galaxy Z Fold3 will start at $1,600/€1,600. Expensive, yes, but it's moving towards a more reasonable level. And this could push the prices of the Z Fold2 lower – it's currently €1,535 in Germany, too close...

Samsung showcases a stretchable OLED skin patch

Posted: 07 Jun 2021 03:07 AM PDT

Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology (SAIT) announced a working prototype of a stretchable OLED skin patch that works as a fitness tracker. It can attach to the wrist working as a replacement of the fitness band and integrates a couple of sensors too. The patch is placed on the inner side of the wrist so moving the wrist itself won't affect the display's performance. Samsung used a polymer compound with high elasticity and a modified elastomer. It can withstand skin elongation of up to 30% and the prototype remained stable after 1,000 stretches. The company says it's the first in...

Samsung Galaxy S22 won't be getting an under-display selfie camera

Posted: 07 Jun 2021 02:01 AM PDT

The Galaxy S22 series are rumored to offer a number of camera improvements over its predecessors and under-display selfie cameras was expected to be one of those. However, according to the most recent rumor coming straight from South Korea, Samsung will be skipping the under-display camera on the Galaxy S22 after all. Inside sources are citing quality and yield issues that keep Samsung from using the tech on its Galaxy S22 models. Additionally, a mosaic pattern of the OLED panel appears in certain situations, which was also true for the ZTE Axon 20 5G, which we reviewed last...

The new Nord phone will be offered for INR22,999 (about $315) and will have some discounts as well, bringing the price even lower. The macro sensor is likely gone, while the phone gets to keep the main shooter, the ultrawide-angle cam and the depth sensor for better portrait photos. Now a document from HDFC Bank on the...

These phones are not just about getting the most bang for your buck, however, instead they are tailored to the specific likes and dislikes of several key markets. The Tecno Camon 17 Pro is one of the most advanced phones it had built to date, though it's not quite on the level of the Camon 16 Premier, which we reviewed last year. Both are in the top price segment of Tecno's line-up with the 17 Pro priced at NGN 125,000 in Nigeria (that converts to $305 or €250). The good news is that...
