The new Huawei MatePad T 10 Kids Edition is designed for very young kids Posted: 18 Jun 2021 08:30 AM PDT Huawei introduced the MatePad T 10 Kids Edition, a tablet for young children. Like the MatePad T 10s it is powered by a Kirin 710A chipset, but it has a smaller, lower resolution display – a 9.7" 1,280 x 800 px IPS LCD (156 ppi). It runs Android 10 with EMUI 10.1 (sorry, no HarmonyOS here, no Google services either) and comes with 2 GB of RAM and 16 or 32 GB storage with a microSD expansion slot. This one really is made for very young kids. If the brightly-colored exterior wasn't enough of a hint, the tablet is covered with an anti-shock case made out of food-grade silicone (in case... |
Rumor: Samsung may be hiring ex Apple and AMD engineers to design a custom CPU Posted: 18 Jun 2021 07:30 AM PDT Samsung shut down its in-house CPU design department because the Mongoose cores underperformed compared to the stock ARM designs. Qualcomm stopped using custom cores years ago. But now things are changing. A new report claims that Samsung is courting former CPU engineers from Apple and AMD, one of which was a major player in the development of Apple's custom chipsets. That engineer is demanding to be fully in control of their own team and to choose which employees to bring onto said team. Apparently Samsung is not satisfied with the performance of the new Cortex-X series and is looking... |
Samsung joins the wireless file transfer standard started by Xiaomi, Oppo and vivo Posted: 18 Jun 2021 06:30 AM PDT A couple of years ago Xiaomi, Oppo and vivo joined forces to create the Mutual Transfer Alliance (MTA) – a standardized way to transfer files between devices (phones and computers) locally over a 20 MB/s wireless connection. After a few months of beta testing, the feature went live. Since then other companies have joined the Alliance, a list that now includes Samsung. Besides the original trio, OnePlus, Meizu, ZTE, Black Shark and HiSense are on board, as is Asus and its gaming brand Republic of Gamers. But Samsung joining the fold is a big deal. For one, it is one of the largest... |
Realme Buds Q2 coming to India on June 24, to be rebranded Buds Air 2 Neo Posted: 18 Jun 2021 05:31 AM PDT Earlier this week, Realme teased the Buds Q2 TWS earphones in India with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), and today, the company announced the Buds Q2 will debut in the Asian country on June 24 alongside the Narzo 30 4G and 5G smartphones and the Realme Smart TV FHD 32". The Buds Q2 were first announced in April in Pakistan, but the ones launching in India aren't the same. As expected, they are rebranded Buds Air 2 Neo, which were announced in Pakistan in April. That means you get a 10mm Bass Boost Driver in each bud, Gaming Mode with 88ms latency, and R2 chip for low power... |
Battlegrounds Mobile India launches with changes, PUBG: New State gains momentum Posted: 18 Jun 2021 04:35 AM PDT The long-awaited Indian version of the popular PUBG Mobile game has finally arrived making a bunch of changes in order to comply with the Indian's government's requirements. The core mechanics and idea of the game remain untouched but there are several changes that make the gaming experience a lot different than the original game. The most prominent one is the color of blood. It's no longer red, it's actually green by default and you can even change it to a different shade of green or yellow. Additionally, the kills are no longer kills. They are called "finishes". A Gameplay... |
Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 rumored to be pricier than Mi 11 Ultra and have UD camera Posted: 18 Jun 2021 03:39 AM PDT A Mi Mix 4 is coming, an increasingly large number of rumors suggests. And a new report coming from China gives us a little bit of detail regarding the phone's pricing and its main appeal - the display. According to MyDrivers, the handset is going to be more expensive than the Mi 11 Ultra but there's a good reason for that. Firstly, it will adopt an under-display camera and secondly, the screen will have equally thin side bezels to ensure a proper full-screen experience. We wonder how the engineering team is able to minimize the size of the bottom frame. Strangely, the display will... |

The Realme GT launched in Europe this week and is headed to India... |

We already got a sneak peek at a concept phone from ZTE touting the second-gen UD camera earlier this year but now Visionox showcased its development which will most likely arrive on an upcoming ZTE Axon series phone. The post shows Visionox's InV see Pro display in the middle which touts a new and improved pixel arrangement for better clarity and less fogging on the embedded selfie camera. Android's Find My Device network will reportedly go crowd-sourced Posted: 17 Jun 2021 10:00 PM PDT Both Samsung and Apple have their own trackers: the SmartTag and the AirTag, respectively. What these trackers have in common is they both use a crowd-sourced network of devices to help track and locate lost tags or other devices. An APK Teardown suggests Google is working on a similar crowd-sourced network for locating lost things. The teardown revealed hidden code found in the latest version of the Google Play Services 21.24.13 in the beta channel. The first says "Allow your phone to help locate your and other people's devices" and the second one reads "Find My Device... |
Google chimes in about the fate of current Wear OS watches and the new update Posted: 17 Jun 2021 08:22 PM PDT On Wednesday, Qualcomm issued a statement to XDA-Developers where a spokesperson confirmed that the most recent couple of generations of the Snapdragon Wear Platform would be capable of running the new, unified Wear OS version. A Google spokesperson later issued a statement to the same outlet. User experience is a top priority for us. We have not confirmed eligibility or timeline on whether any Wear OS smartwatch will update to the new unified platform. There are many technical requirements in order to run the unified platform that ensures all components of the user experience are... |
Samsung stops selling the Galaxy Z Fold2 in the US Posted: 17 Jun 2021 06:07 PM PDT Samsung has stopped selling the Galaxy Z Fold2 in the US through its official online store. When you try to access the page that used to host the listing for the device, you're greeted with an error message telling you that the "Galaxy Fold is no longer available for purchase on Samsung.com". The wording is weird because it references the original Galaxy Fold that was out of stock for months anyway following the launch of the Fold2, but this may just be a case of the person in charge of the copy for such messages simply reusing the text from when the original Fold stopped being offered by... |
Xiaomi Mi 10T and Mi 10T Pro are now receiving the MIUI 12.5 update in Europe Posted: 17 Jun 2021 03:38 PM PDT Back in February Xiaomi announced the international rollout of MIUI 12.5, the latest version of its Android skin, which was initially unveiled in December in China. Since then, we've seen a steady, if slow, stream of updates headed to various devices in international markets. Over in Europe, the Mi 11 got MIUI 12.5 last month, and now it's finally time for the Mi 10T and Mi 10T Pro to receive the new software too. They should've gotten it in May as well, but for some reason the rollout got delayed. Anyway, it's here now, so if you have a Mi 10T or Mi 10T Pro purchased somewhere in... |

OnePlus confirms that OxygenOS is here to stay Posted: 17 Jun 2021 10:40 AM PDT OnePlus and Oppo have always had a connection, but the two companies made it official last year and yesterday Pete Lau, CEO of OnePlus and SVP at the parent company of the two brands, announced that the two will merge even more resources. What does that mean for OxygenOS? Nothing, says OnePlus, after MySmartPrice reached out for clarification. According to Lau OnePlus will continue to operate as an independent brand and this includes developing OxygenOS. OnePlus phones in China used a branch of that OS called HydrogenOS – this was necessary as the local models shipped without Google... |
LG might soon start selling iPhones in its stores in Korea, report claims Posted: 17 Jun 2021 09:21 AM PDT LG is exiting the mobile business and yet its LG Best Shop locations in Korea may soon find themselves full of people looking to buy a new phone – not one made by LG, but by Apple. Such a move makes sense as LG stores will soon find themselves with empty floor space and available sales assistants that used to be dedicated to LG phones. According to Business Korea Apple and LG are still in the process of negotiations with some major bits to work out. First off, will these Apple corners within the LG stores be operated by Apple employees or will LG employees from the mother-store help... |
