Huawei Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro to be unveiled on September 19 with Kirin 990 chipset Posted: 10 Aug 2019 06:30 AM PDT Now that Samsung's latest Note10 pair is official, it's Huawei's turn to refresh its top-of-the-line Mate family. We already know a fair bit about the Mate 30, as well as its Pro and Lite siblings. Nothing official regarding launch dates and availability yet, though. Well, until now that is. As per High-tech Mail.ru, the Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro will be made official in Europe on September 19. Huawei Mate 30 Pro Apparently, the info comes straight from Dr. Wang Chenglu - president of Huawei Consumer Business Software. If that is the case, the credibility is definitely there. As... |
LG patents a three-piece, two-display foldable screen phone design with no ports Posted: 10 Aug 2019 04:30 AM PDT Foldable display smartphones might have been rushed yet again judging by the rocky lifecycle of both the Samsung Galaxy Fold and Huawei Mate X, neither of which is still available for purchase. Even so, the tech is definitely there and it's mostly a matter of time and refinement at this point. And actually few players have been working on foldable displays longer than LG. This might sound a bit surprising, given that the Korean giant still doesn't have any concrete foldable smartphone offer, but it is a fact that as early as 2014 and even 2013 LG was spearheading the foldable revolution.... |
Samsung Galaxy A90 5G gets Bluetooth certification Posted: 10 Aug 2019 02:08 AM PDT The latest and probably most high-end, if numbers are anything to go by, addition to the Galaxy A line should be arriving shortly. After a quick stop overt at Geekbench last month, the Galaxy A90 was then certified by the Wi-Fi alliance. Now the phone was spotted getting greenlit from the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) as well, hinting at an imminent launch. Galaxy A90 Bluetooth certification Probably the more interesting bit, though, is the fact that two distinct variants of the Galaxy A90 are listed on the Bluetooth SIG site - SM-A908N and SM-A908B. Coincidentally,... |

Apple Music dark mode and time-synced lyrics appear on Android before iOS Posted: 09 Aug 2019 09:00 PM PDT Apple has updated the Apple Music app for Android with two new features. The app now includes dark mode, which uses a pitch black background for all the screens, a stark contrast from the otherwise all-white UI of the app. The dark mode can be enabled permanently from the settings or can be set to switch on with your phone's battery saver feature. The update also brings with it time-synced lyrics, which scroll automatically in sync with the song. The lyrics screen has been overhauled entirely now and features large text that cover the entire screen. If these features... |
Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 is the world's first tablet with an HDR10+ certified display Posted: 09 Aug 2019 08:00 PM PDT Samsung recently announced the Galaxy Tab S6, its latest Android tablet and a true flagship offering at that, boasting the Snapdragon 855 at the helm, unlike its predecessor which for some reason had to make do with the previous year's top SoC. Samsung felt it necessary to omit a rather important detail about the tablet in its initial press materials, namely the fact that its display is HDR10+ certified. Not only that, but this is the first ever tablet to be graced with that honor, so it's even more outstanding of an achievement - and thus apparently worthy of a separate press release sent... |
Telegram update brings ability to send silent messages, animated emoji Posted: 09 Aug 2019 07:00 PM PDT Telegram has released a new update on iOS and Android (v5.10), which, as usual, brings with it a whole host of new and innovative features. One of the new features is the ability to send messages silently. If you want to message someone but don't want their device to make a sound, you can now choose to send without sound. Just press and hold the send button to choose the send without sound option. This could be handy when the other person may be in a meeting, in class or could just be asleep. They will get a notification on their screen as usual but the app won't make a... |
Motorola One Action rumored to launch in India on August 23 Posted: 09 Aug 2019 05:00 PM PDT Motorola is working on a few new members of its One family of smartphones. Like their names imply, these are part of the Android One program, getting an unadulterated version of the OS and the promise of swift updates. Alongside the One Pro (also known as One Zoom) that's on the way, the One Action is clearly due to become official very soon, based on how much it's been leaking lately. Now a new report from India says the Motorola One Action's launch event in the subcontinent will take place on August 23. Based on previous leaks, its price in Europe is expected to be 299 for the top of... |
Samsung's 108MP camera sensor is getting official on August 12 Posted: 09 Aug 2019 04:00 PM PDT The Quad Bayer filter camera sensors for smartphones are here to stay. After a bunch of devices using 48 MP units have arrived recently, Realme and Redmi will take things up a notch to 64MP very soon, but that's not the end of the line. Samsung's camera division will launch a 108 MP sensor on August 12. Last month, this has been rumored to arrive in phones in 2020, but that timeline may have been revised in the meantime. A couple of days ago a well known leaker shared a slide from an internal presentation that told us Xiaomi would use this Samsung ISOCELL sensor in a smartphone first, the... |
OxygenOS update for OnePlus 6 and 6T adds some OnePlus 7 Pro features Posted: 09 Aug 2019 02:59 PM PDT After updating the OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro the last two weeks or so, the company is now pushing an update to OnePlus 6 and 6T as well. The OTA release brings the August security patch and a couple of new features from the newer OnePlus 7 lineup. The Fnatic Mode found in the Gaming Mode is now available to last year's OnePlus devices along with Zen mode and the so-called DC dimming feature that eliminates PWM. Additionally, the changelog says the pocket mode has been optimized further and Quick reply in landscape has been added. An issue with apps failing to respond has been taken care... |
Our Samsung Galaxy Note10 and Note10+ hands-on video is up Posted: 09 Aug 2019 01:30 PM PDT Samsung is changing course with the design of the latest Galaxy Note10 phones that were announced this week. For one, it's "phones" plural this time around with a large and small model. The S Pen is better than ever and the screen on the Galaxy Note10+ is larger than ever. As for the smaller Galaxy Note10, the screen is about the size of the one on the Galaxy S10+ while the phone itself is smaller - about the size of the Galaxy S10. That's a win in terms of screen-to-body ratio, but we need to talk about the resolution, 1080p+. We got to spend some time with both phones and to our eyes,... |
Nokia 7.2 passes by Geekbench with 6GB RAM and Android Pie Posted: 09 Aug 2019 12:00 PM PDT At the beginning of July we got out first glimpse of an upcoming device from HMD codenamed Daredevil. Later on it became evident that the the phone would be known as the Nokia 7.2 as it bagged certification in Indonesia. The upcoming midranger just passed through Geekbench to give us a glimpse of its key specs. It features an octa-core Qualcomm chipset (which should be the Snapdragon 710) clocked at 1.84GHz paired with 6GB RAM and runs Android 9 Pie. Those specs helped it push out 1,604 points on the single-core test and 5,821 points in the multi-core department which is on par with... |

These are just preliminary details, the full specifications are yet to be published, but they do confirm some of the rumors and give us some photos to look at. The phone is slightly thicker - 8.95mm, up from 7.6mm - to accommodate a larger 4,000mAh battery (up from 3,300mAh). It should support 45W fast charging (up from 27W). According to the TENAA data, the screen size remains at 6.39", but the rumors claim additional upgrades are happening too - like switching the 1440p+ resolution. Also, Xiaomi is expected to bump the... |
Samsung Galaxy M10s spotted on Geekbench with Exynos 7885 Posted: 09 Aug 2019 09:00 AM PDT A Geekbench listing has popped up revealing a still unreleased Samsung handset packing an Exynos 7885 chipset under the hood. The SoC can be found in several mid-range 2018 models so it makes sense to power up a low-end smartphone this year. The model number suggests that the phone in question is the Galaxy M10s - a refreshed version of the original M10. The phone will likely be aimed at the Indian market and the Geekbench score sheet says it will pack 3GB of RAM and run on Android 9.0 Pie out of the box. The smartphone's release date could be coming sooner than we think but we... |
