The 5G version of the Realme Pad X will introduce Limelight for video calls Posted: 22 Jul 2022 03:09 AM PDT The Realme Pad X was announced in May as a Wi-Fi only slate for the Chinese market. Now the company is preparing to launch the tablet in India and is advertising it as the "only 5G tablet in the premium mid-range segment". That won't be the only change – the R&D team has developed a feature to make video calls a little bit easier, thanks to the tablet's 105° front-facing camera. The feature, called Limelight, automatically tracks you to make sure that you are in the center of the frame, leaving you free to move about instead of being anchored to your chair. The feature supports... |

The cover display will move from 24.5:9 to 23:9. The company has also found a way to slim down the bezels slightly, judging by this image shared by Ice Universe. It shows the vivo X Fold (top), the new Galaxy Z Fold4 (middle) and the Galaxy Z Fold3 (bottom). Both the vertical and the horizontal bezels are slimmer than they were on the outgoing Z Fold. Bezel comparison: vivo X Fold (top) • Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 (middle) • Galaxy Z Fold3... |

According to Digital Chat Station, a device named OnePlus Ace Pro is also on its way with the latest and greatest Snapdragon, and it will also have 16 GB RAM and 150W fast charging. Given the brand's history of giving one phone two different names for domestic and overseas sales, it is fair to assume the OnePlus Ace Pro is actually the 10T. OnePlus 10T leaked... |
New leak suggests Samsung may slightly increase price of Galaxy Z Flip4 in Europe Posted: 21 Jul 2022 09:21 PM PDT Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip4 is going to be announced at Samsung Unpacked on August 10 but a new report from Pricebaba reveals the new foldable device's retail price in Europe. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 The base model Galaxy Z Flip4 is expected to come in at €1,080 with 128GB of storage. Meanwhile, 256GB and 512GB variants will run €1,160 and € 1,280, respectively. The Galaxy Z Flip3 launched in Europe with a retail price of €1,049 so a price increase adjustment makes sense... |
Facebook adds a new tab called Feeds which is sorted chronologically Posted: 21 Jul 2022 06:59 PM PDT Today Facebook announced a pretty substantial change to its app. First off, the main feed you see when you open the app is now called Home, which makes sense and is way overdue. But that's not the big news. The big news is that there's now an additional tab in the app, called Feeds. And this tab is sorted in reverse chronological order - you know, like what's now called Home used to be before the algorithm took over. The Feeds tab has a few filters of its own - you can have it show you everything or just stuff from your friends, groups, pages, or favorites - this is a curated list... |
Samsung wants to build 11 chip fabs in Texas Posted: 21 Jul 2022 03:37 PM PDT Samsung is building a chip fab in the Austin, Texas area in the US, which is estimated to cost around $17 billion. But that's far from the only fab the company is thinking about building in that area. In fact, Samsung has filed applications for tax breaks for 11 more fabs it wants to build in Texas, in the Taylor and Manor districts. Of course, this is far from a done deal - and undoubtedly a lot is hinging on whether Samsung gets those tax breaks or not - they would add up to a whopping $4.8 billion. If not, then these plans will clearly be shelved. But if it does receive the... |

Infinix creates a "3D Vapor Cloud Chamber", which improves on conventional designs by 3°C Posted: 21 Jul 2022 08:12 AM PDT Infinix has developed an improved vapor chamber cooling system that it calls "3D Vapor Cloud Chamber" (3D VCC). Compared to conventional designs, it reduces the temperature of the chipset by 3°C, according to the company. The way it does this is by improving the contact between the chipset and the vapor chamber itself. Phone VCs are typically flat, which requires the use of thermal paste (or a similar material) to mate the chipset and VC. The 3D VCC design has a "bump" that leaves only the tiniest gap between the chamber and the chipset. The bump has an additional advantage – it... |

Engineer who put USB-C on an iPhone did the same with AirPods this time Posted: 20 Jul 2022 10:10 PM PDT We've covered two of Ken Pillonel's viral modifications here on the site before. Back in November, Pillonel successfully modified and iPhone X with a fully functioning USB-C port. Then in April, Pillonel fitted a Samsung Galaxy A51 with a Lighting port. The projects show that products can indeed use universal connectors even if the company that made them doesn't want them to. Pillonel's latest undertaking is the AirPods case. The video starts with a phone call to Apple where Pillonel is told by an Apple representative "it's more economical just to swap the case out" in the event the... |
