Since then, Samsung managed to decrease the pixel size from 0.64 μm, making the the new sensor 1/1.4" type - about 20% smaller than the... |

Nothing phone (1) will initially be sold through an invite system Posted: 22 Jun 2022 05:59 PM PDT Nothing CEO Carl Pei was the co-founder of OnePlus, and you can see a lot of similarities between the two companies, especially in the marketing department. Nothing has run a OnePlus-esque teaser campaign for its upcoming phone (1), revealing small (or big) tidbits of information here and there seemingly every other day, ensuring it stays in the news cycle for weeks. That's exactly what OnePlus used to do, and it turns out Nothing will apply yet another early OnePlus strategy for its first smartphone: the invite system. Love it or hate it, it was undeniably unique when it made its debut... |
Samsung Galaxy Watch5 to be more expensive than the Watch4 Posted: 22 Jun 2022 03:05 PM PDT Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Watch5 family of wearables is going to be more expensive than the Watch4 devices which launched last year, at least upon release. That is, if a new rumor on the matter pans out. It comes from usually reliable Roland Quandt (of OnLeaks fame), however, so there's a higher than usual likelihood of accuracy here. Let's see. The Galaxy Watch5 40mm Bluetooth only will retail for €300, while the LTE model will go for €350. The Galaxy Watch5 44mm Bluetooth only model will be priced at €350, while its LTE capable sibling will retail for €400. Finally, the Galaxy Watch5... |

Anyway, the most interesting thing about the new model is that it is the first Google Wear OS 3.0 watch that hasn't been skinned by Samsung's One UI. Sorry, Pixel Watch, you had your chance. As always, the Montblanc timepiece focuses on luxury. In fact, the company didn't announce many technical details. All we know for certain so far is that the watch is powered by the Snapdragon Wear 4100+ chipset. The Montblanc Summit 3 features improved exercise... |
Nothing confirms that the phone (1) will not be available in the US Posted: 22 Jun 2022 08:01 AM PDT We already suspected that would be the case, but now it is official - the Nothing phone (1) will not be available in the US. No North American carrier was on the supported list that we saw yesterday when 100 limited edition units were put up for auction. Here is what the company had to say: "While we'd love to bring phone (1) to the entire community around the world, we're focusing on home markets, including the UK and Europe, where we have strong partnerships with leading local carriers. It takes a lot to launch a smartphone as you know, from ensuring the handset is supported by the... |
Pixel 7's Tensor 2 chipset might offer only modest performance improvements Posted: 22 Jun 2022 06:49 AM PDT Google has revealed only a few details about the upcoming Pixel 7 series, but we know that working prototypes exist – one even ended up eBay. Another such prototype, a bricked Pixel 7 Pro, was used by the Google News Telegram group to dig up additional info on the new models. While the phone itself was bricked, the group managed to extract boot logs. Combing through those, they discovered that the Tensor 2 chipset features Cortex-A55 cores. This is the last little core based on the ARMv8 architecture, the new design (A510) is based on ARMv9. And since the two architectures can't coexist on... |

Today the PCI-SIG unveiled PCI Express 7.0, the final specification for which is expected to be released in 2025, while the first PCIe 7.0 devices should hit the market in 2027 or thereabouts. Samsung tipped to start the mass production of 3nm chips next week Posted: 22 Jun 2022 04:29 AM PDT Samsung is expected to announce the start of the mass production of 3nm chips next week, reports Yonhap News. This means the company will jump ahead of TSMC, which is expected to begin 3nm chip production in the second half of this year. Samsung's 3nm node will bring a 35% decrease in area, 30% higher performance or 50% lower power consumption compared to its 5nm process (which was used for the Snapdragon 888 and Exynos 2100). This will be achieved by switching to a Gate-All-Around (GAA) design for transistors. This is the next step after FinFET as it allows the foundry to shrink... |

These are phones that are just sitting there waiting to be bought - but apparently not enough people want them. The A series of mid-range devices allegedly takes up a huge portion of this stuck inventory, presumably because they aren't appealing enough to fly off the shelves. Samsung is aiming to ship around 270 million smartphones this year, and 50... |
Motorola Razr 3's battery life might be disappointing Posted: 21 Jun 2022 04:29 PM PDT Motorola is currently working on its next generation foldable smartphone, which we're tentatively calling Razr 3. This will launch at some point in the near future, and it's confirmed to sport Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. This means it will be Motorola's first high-end foldable. There are other upgrades too, especially in the camera department, but if we go by a new rumor out of China, there will also be areas where the new Razr isn't better than its predecessors. And one such problematic area is battery capacity. According to a source who's been reliable in the past (but not... |
