Weekly poll: how do the Huawei P50 and P50 Pro stack up against the competition? Posted: 01 Aug 2021 08:31 AM PDT The Huawei P50 and P50 Pro were announced this Thursday and the new series is off to a good start. The Pro model already topped the DxOMark charts for both its front and rear cameras. You can also check out the official unboxing video if you want to see more of the P50 series. The Huawei P50 Pro is already on pre-order in China and will become available on August 12. The vanilla P50 is over a month away, it is expected in September. The two P50-series phones are supposed to be available globally, but Huawei made no mention of a global rollout, let alone pricing. Still, let's test the... |
Flashback: 12MP shootout 12 years later - Samsung Pixon12 vs. Sony Ericsson Satio Posted: 01 Aug 2021 04:57 AM PDT 12 years ago we published the 12 MP shootout - a head-to-head comparison of the first two phones with 12MP cameras to hit the market, the Samsung Pixon12 (released August 2009) and the Sony Ericsson Satio (released October 2009). Since we've been feeling nostalgic about some of the greatest cameraphones of years past, we decided to try and recreate that shootout. In last week's Flashback article that focused on the Satio we noted how narrow the field of view of the camera is compared to the main camera on a modern phone (to say nothing of the ultrawide cam). So, let's start here -... |
Weekly poll results: OnePlus Nord 2 gets the nod Posted: 01 Aug 2021 01:29 AM PDT The original Nord was met with doubt, the Core Edition didn't fare much better in the eyes of fans. But the OnePlus Nord 2, now that looks like a winner from the outset. Nearly half of voters in last week's poll are interested in acquiring a Nord 2. If you're still on the fence, check out our written review or watch our video review for a detailed examination of the pros and cons of this new model. The phone became available earlier this week, so if you want, you can grab one right now. The base model is €400 in Europe, £400 in the UK and INR 30,000 in India. Alas, North America may... |
Huawei's 100W charger gets 3C certified Posted: 31 Jul 2021 10:01 PM PDT Honor announced the Honor 50 Pro last month with 100W charging, and it appears its former owner Huawei will follow suit soon since a 100W Huawei charger (20V@5A) with model code HW-200500C00 has been certified by China's 3C. We don't know when Huawei will launch a smartphone with 100W charging, but since its 100W adapter has bagged 3C certification, we should soon hear about a Huawei device that will charge at up to 100W. The freshly announced Huawei P50 and P50 Pro go up to 66W, with the latter also supporting 50W wireless charging. You can read our Huawei P50 series announcement... |
Samsung Galaxy A52 5G in for review Posted: 31 Jul 2021 06:33 PM PDT Say hello to the Samsung Galaxy A52 5G, the latest arrival at HQ. It's got several differences to the 4G-only Samsung Galaxy A52, which we reviewed in March, even though the colors match. The biggest differences are that the 5G model gets faster 120Hz refresh rate on its 6.5-inch Super AMOLED and that is has a 5G-ready Snapdragon 750G in place of the Snapdragon 720G of the 4G model. For the €450 starting price, the unboxing is underwhelming. You get a SIM tool, a USB cable and a 15W charger. That's one slow charger and no case, but that's also the norm with Samsung's A... |
Samsung Galaxy Buds2 price in Europe revealed Posted: 31 Jul 2021 02:30 PM PDT The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Buds2 TWS headphones have been in the rumor mill for quite some time now and the leaks themselves are pretty extensive too. We already know most of the features as well as the design and available colors. What's left is the pricing. We've had some price guesses already from various sources, but this is the first one coming from а tech media with a solid track record when it comes to this type of stuff. If its internal connections are right, the Galaxy Buds 2 will cost approximately €172.90 including VAT. As of now, the Galaxy Buds Pro go for about... |
Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 to launch with MIUI 12.5, company's PR confirms Posted: 31 Jul 2021 10:30 AM PDT The Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 is reportedly all set to launch in August and previous rumors suggest that the handset will launch with the company's MIUI 13 software. In fact, it was believed that the event would not only be about the handset but about the new version of the OS too. However, Xiaomi's PR, Wang Hua, disproved those claims by saying that developers are still working on polishing out the user experience, which also happens to be the main focus of the new MIUI 13. It will take some time before Xiaomi announces MIUI 13, that's for sure. This information is in line with Digital Chat... |
