3C certification reveals Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 will come with 25W charger Posted: 01 May 2021 03:09 AM PDT New details about Samsung's next folding flagship have emerged, this time from the 3C certification site. A listing matching the supposed technical model number of the Galaxy Z Fold3 reveals that the folding device will come included with a 25W fast charger. The included adapter has the model number EP-TA800 and is the same one that comes included with the Galaxy Z Fold2. Though the charger included is rated for 25W, it isn't implausible that the phone itself could support faster charging speeds when using another compatible adapter - this is out of pure speculation. It was... |

Roku removes YouTube TV from its app catalog amidst contract disagreements Posted: 30 Apr 2021 09:55 PM PDT As Roku reached the end of its contract with Google to host the YouTube TV app on its channel store, Roku sent all its customers an email notifying them that they may lose the ability to use the YouTube TV channel on Roku devices. In this messages to consumers, it pointed at Google and accused it of "unfair and anticompetitive requirements" that are, according to Roku, designed to allow the collection of user data and to "manipulate" search results. That was on Monday. Fast forward to Friday, Roku has actually removed the YouTube TV channel from its store and issued a statement to... |

See if the Huawei Mate X2 survives a durability test Posted: 30 Apr 2021 07:42 PM PDT Foldable smartphones are generally considered to be more fragile than 'normal' ones, unlike gaming phones for example - then again it turns out that among the latest batch of the latter, two out of three do snap in two or three parts when bent. So you may be thinking that foldables should fare even worse in such testing, but is that actually true? Let's find out. Zack from the JerryRigEverything YouTube channel is back at it again, and this time the device being 'durability tested' is Huawei's latest and greatest, the Mate X2. Will it scratch? Burn? Bend? Take a look below. In case... |
Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra is finally reaching Europe on May 11 Posted: 30 Apr 2021 05:19 PM PDT Xiaomi went all-in with the Mi 11 Ultra this year, producing what is its first proper mainstream flagship smartphone ever to be released internationally (as last year's Mi 10 Ultra was a China-only affair). The company unveiled the Mi 11 Ultra's European eye watering €1,199 pricing at an event in late March, but it stayed mum on a release date for the continent. Now thanks to Xiaomi's official Dutch Facebook page, we know that the Mi 11 Ultra is expected to finally become available on May 11. Get it? May 11. This is at least true for the Dutch market, and even if the other... |
Watch the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition get torn down on video Posted: 30 Apr 2021 02:59 PM PDT The Redmi K40 Gaming Edition is one of the most interesting new devices on the scene right now and Xiaomi thought it would be fitting to take us for a tour of its internals. The brand's official Weibo profile shared a timely 2-minute teardown video revealing all the key components inside Redmi's first gaming phone. The whole process starts by removing the glass back panel which reveals the battery, NFC antenna and protective cover over the motherboard. Removing a few screws and unclipping a few cables shows out the mother actual board and frees up the camera cover which gives us... |
Apple found in breach of EU competition law over unfair App Store tax policy Posted: 30 Apr 2021 01:15 PM PDT Earlier today, the European Commission issued a preliminary view that Apple holds an unfair advantage in the music streaming space over competitors like Spotify. The basis of the finding lies in Apple's own in-app purchase mechanism which sees Cupertino imposing a 30% tax on competitor's earning through the App Store. The potential implications for Apple include a fine of 10% of its annual revenue which could add up to €22.3 billion ($27 billion) if the decision is ratified. Our preliminary conclusion: @Apple is in breach of EU competition law. @AppleMusic compete with other music... |
YouTube is testing a new timestamped comment feature Posted: 30 Apr 2021 12:00 PM PDT YouTube has announced that it's currently testing a new feature that allows you to comment on a specific time in the video so anyone who's watching can see your comment to the relevant moment in the video. Since it's just an experimental feature, for now, only a handful of people have access to the new version of the app. The timestamped comments can be turned on from the sort button found in the comment section under a video in the mobile YouTube app. And when turned on, comments will pop up as the progression bar at the bottom of the video moves through the timestamps. Samsung is being sued over the Galaxy S20 series' camera glass issues Posted: 30 Apr 2021 09:15 AM PDT Shortly after the Galaxy S20 series launched last year, numerous reports of spontaneous cracks appearing on the back camera glass emerged online. It's still unknown how widespread the issue is but the company has since acknowledged the problem and said that the users are not at fault. A US law firm, however, thinks that this isn't enough and Samsung has breached several consumer-protection laws. The firm in question is Hagens Berman and claims that the Korean tech giant has misled the consumers. The glass for the camera module is low-quality and doesn't reflect the price of the... |
