Fitbit Ace 3 specs, images, and launch date leak Posted: 06 Mar 2021 06:30 AM PST Fitbit introduced the Ace 2 fitness band for kids back in March 2019, and it will announce its successor dubbed Ace 3 on March 15, reports German blog WinFuture. The publication also shared some images of the Ace 3, which reveal it will come in a two-color design like its predecessor. The wearable will sport a 1.47" OLED touchscreen of 240x240-pixel resolution. It's not a color panel we are looking at, but the smart band will support animated clock faces. Oppo A94 goes official with Helio P95 SoC, 48MP quad camera, and 6.43" AMOLED screen Posted: 06 Mar 2021 03:30 AM PST Oppo announced the A93 last October with a Helio P95 SoC and 6.43" AMOLED screen. And today the company followed it up with its successor called A94. The Oppo A94 is also powered by the Helio P95 SoC and packs a 6.43" FullHD+ AMOLED screen like its predecessor, but it runs Android 11-based ColorOS 11.1 out of the box. The A94 has 8GB RAM and 128GB storage on board, although it also comes with a microSD card slot for storage expansion. However, the X50 Pro 5G received the Realme UI 2.0 stable update in December, and now it's the Narzo 20 that's getting a taste of Realme's latest custom Android skin. Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite is receiving One UI 3.1 with March security patch Posted: 05 Mar 2021 09:30 PM PST Samsung released One UI 3.1 for the Galaxy Tab S6 and Galaxy Note10 Lite earlier this week and Galaxy M51 yesterday. Now it's the Galaxy S10 Lite that's getting the latest version of Samsung's custom Android skin. The new firmware sports version number G770FXXU4EUBA, and while a detailed changelog isn't available, we know it bumps up the Android security patch on the S10 Lite to March 2021 and doesn't bring wireless DeX support to the smartphone. Qualcomm Snapdragon 775 details leak Posted: 05 Mar 2021 02:41 PM PST Qualcomm has already made its flagship chipset for 2021 official, we're talking about the Snapdragon 888. However, we still haven't seen a successor to its premium midrange line in the 7 series, and the Snapdragon 765 is getting kind of old. Apparently it won't be long now, though, as the company has been rumored to introduce the new SoC at some point before the end of this month. We're assuming this will be called Snapdragon 775, although, who knows - maybe it's going to end up as the 788? Counterpoint: Oppo surpasses Huawei and becomes largest smartphone brand in China Posted: 05 Mar 2021 10:58 AM PST Oppo became the biggest smartphone maker in China for the first time ever, reports Counterpoint Research. This is the result of two factors: Oppo's rise and Huawei's decline. This January Oppo captured 21% of the Chinese market, putting it on top. Fellow BBK brand vivo was close behind with 20%, tied with the ailing Huawei. Behind that are Apple and Xiaomi, both at 16%. Below is a timeline of Oppo's growth. Oppo Find X3 Pro will have an LTPO screen with 5Hz-120Hz adaptive refresh Posted: 05 Mar 2021 09:39 AM PST Oppo's upcoming Find X3 Pro will use a Samsung-made AMOLED screen with an LTPO backplane, enabling variable refresh rate between 5Hz and 120Hz. According to popular insider Ice universe the panel will be Samsung's E4 with 10-bit color support and it will be the first non-Samsung on the market with an LTPO panel. That latter claim could be challenged by the OnePlus 9 Pro, which will also have an LTPO display and will become official on March 8, three days before Oppo's Find X3 Pro. Of course the Oppo Find X3 Pro and the OnePlus 9 Pro could very well use the same 6.78-inch 1440p 120Hz... |
Apple Watch still leads global smartwatch sales Posted: 05 Mar 2021 08:46 AM PST According to the latest Counterpoint Research report on smartwatch shipments in the October – December 2020 period, Apple is still the undisputed leader in the segment. The market saw a 1.5% increase in total shipments compared to the same period in 2019 with Apple alone accounting for 40% of the overall pie. Samsung came in at second place with a 10% market share followed by Huawei with 8%. Fitbit (7%) and BBK group (6%) rounded off the top-five smartwatch brands.
