Xiaomi unveiled the new Redmi flagships and the theme is, as always, speed. The K40 trio shares the AMOLED display that boasts 120Hz refresh rate and 360Hz touch sampling rate (one of the highest we've seen yet). And all three use Snapdragon 800-series chipsets, though the hierarchy is clear as the vanilla model gets a 7nm chip with a fresh coat of paint, the other two pack the latest Snapdragon 888. The second division happens at the camera level – the K40 Pro+ is equipped with a 108MP sensor in its main camera, the Pro gets a 64MP sensor instead and the vanilla has to settle for a...

Posted: 24 Feb 2021 05:44 PM PST

Oppo's quest to launch as many affordable 5G phones as possible is still ongoing, and the latest device that has that honor is the A54 5G. This model has been listed by Japanese carrier au, and we have to say it looks a lot like the already announced Oppo A93 5G. The key difference we see between these two is the fact that while the A93 5G has a triple rear camera system, the A54 5G goes with a quad setup, although it's housed in a very similar looking camera island. The Oppo A54 5G has a 48 MP main sensor, a couple of 2 MP snappers (we assume one is macro one is a depth sensor), as...

The Oppo X 2021 concept phone is back – originally demoed at Inno Day 2020, the company is now revealing more details about its rollable phone at MWC Shangahi 2021. Here is a short video that explains how the display expands from 6.7" to 7.4". The action is powered by two roll motors. They use cogs that mesh into the so-called Warp Track laminate, which is similar to timing belt. The laminate is made of high-strength steel for allowing it to be both tough and thin – at its thinnest it measures only 0.1 mm, but is still strong enough to support the display. Whether retracted or...
