Instagram stops promoting recycled TikTok videos in Reels Posted: 10 Feb 2021 07:16 AM PST When Instagram launched Reels back in August, everyone saw it as a direct response to TikTok - clearly the fastest growing social network at this moment. Both platforms provide a similar service, and content creators took it as a low-effort-high-reward attempt to post one video on two different apps. Starting today, Instagram decided to punish some of the laziest creators and influencers and has announced that it will stop promoting Reels with a watermark - something that can be seen on all TikTok videos. Instagram Reels Dos and Dont's In a cheerful (but actually snarky) post... |

In addition to the chipset upgrade, the Mi 11 brings a bigger OLED display that has higher resolution (QHD+) and refresh rate (120Hz), along with HDR10+ support. OnePlus 9, 9 Pro to ship with 4,500 mAh batteries and in-box chargers Posted: 10 Feb 2021 02:01 AM PST Late last month, a reliable tipster suggested the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro will pack 4,500 mAh batteries. Now, tipster Max Jambor has corroborated that bit while claiming that both smartphones will come with in-box chargers. Jambor didn't tell how fast the bundled adapters will be, but an image posted by him on Twitter revealing the battery capacity says we are looking at dual-cell batteries on both phones. Previous leaks and rumors have claimed that OnePlus 9 Pro will charge at up to 65W. We also expect the vanilla 9 to go that fast, but it's unclear if the Lite variant will share the... |

New Black Shark 4 phone shines on TENAA Posted: 09 Feb 2021 11:55 PM PST The Xiaomi-owned gaming branch Black Shark is preparing to launch at least two new phones, as evidenced by TENAA's documents. We've previously spotted a device with model number KSR-A0 and some key specs, and today another, called PRS-A0 was listed, complete with photos. The new phone has the Black Shark logo on the back, but it is likely to have an LCD because we can see a fingerprint scanner on the side and not underneath the front panel. Posted: 09 Feb 2021 01:01 PM PST Up until now, the world's largest gaming market has not benefited from Steam's huge PC game library. However, Steam's entry into the Chinese market isn't as great as you'd think. Due to strict Chinese policies, most of the games won't be available to Chinese players. In fact, the available Steam library outside of China contains about 48,000 titles while the one in the country has merely 41 games. Even those 41 games would not have reached China if it wasn't for the local publisher Perfect World. Chinese laws restrict games involving blood, corpses and gambling in order to protect... |
Global chip shortages to hit iPhone 12 production Posted: 09 Feb 2021 12:07 PM PST The higher demand and supply chain constraints caused by the pandemic are causing a global chip shortage that affects pretty much every industry that needs semiconductors. Industry analysts suggest that the automotive industry has taken the biggest hit and the issue will deepen in the consumer electronics market as well. That means Apple's iPhone 12 production could suffer too. Earlier this month, a Microsoft representative said that chip shortages will continue throughout the first half of 2021 while AMD's CEO, Lisa Su warns that this would be the norm during the whole 2021. And... |

Sony Xperia 1 II received the External monitor app from the Xperia Pro with the Android 11 update Posted: 09 Feb 2021 09:31 AM PST You know how one of the best features of the $2,500 Sony Xperia Pro is that it can act as an external monitor for digital cameras? Well, now the Xperia 1 II can as well – the feature was added as part of the Android 11 update. No, the Mark II phones didn't suddenly grow an HDMI port, that remains exclusive to the Pro phone. However, an HDMI to USB-C adapter will do the trick and one of those doesn't cost much (especially compared to the Pro's price premium). The External monitor app has the same features as on the Pro, here are the highlights: This change was discovered by Reddit... |
