Weekly poll: will you be buying a Realme 7 5G during the Black Friday deals? Posted: 22 Nov 2020 05:53 AM PST Realme launched its first 5G phones earlier this year, but they were part of the premium X-series. Now the company is ready to bring out mid-rangers with next-gen connectivity. Ready to bring them globally, that is, as there are already a few models available in China. In fact, the new Realme 7 5G, which was announced this week, is nearly identical to the Realme Q2 from October. The Q-series was exclusive to China, of course, so Europeans should think of the new model as a "Realme 7 on steroids". Weekly poll results: the ideal screen size keeps growing Posted: 21 Nov 2020 11:31 PM PST Back in 2016 our poll showed that the ideal screen size for a phone is between 5.0" and 5.3". A year later the result was the same with 5.2" getting voted to the top. But even back then it was clear that preferences were shifting towards larger displays. Last year we conducted a similar poll, which confirmed that – 6.0" became the most popular size. Last week's poll shows that the trend has held and the 5.9-6.5" size category received the most votes. Judging by the comments, most people prefer to stick to closer to the 5.9" end than the 6.5" end. The love for small phones has not... |
Posted: 21 Nov 2020 08:23 PM PST We have the just-unveiled Realme 7 5G at the office and while we're working on its review, let's go over what makes this phone one of the best value propositions for a 5G phone. It costs just €229 at its initial promo price and for that you get a complete package - USB cable, 30W charger and a case. The styling and materials used in the Realme 7 5G are the same as on the rest of Realme's 7 series. The rear has a matte plastic finish with Realme's distinctive reflective styling. It feels nice in the hand and is light and reasonably compact. There are four sensors on the rear... |
MediaTek’s 6nm MT6893 chipset leaks again with close to Snapdragon 865 performance Posted: 21 Nov 2020 05:00 PM PST We've known for a while that MediaTek is working on an interesting new chip, with an architecture similar to that of the Samsung Exynos 1080 and based on TSMC's 6nm development process. Dubbed the MT6893, the upcoming silicon already managed to raise a few eyebrows with some leaked GeekBench 4 scores, showing it outpace the MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ in single-core performance. As an even more-impressive follow-up now we have some GeekBench 5 runs, suggesting that the MT6893 is not only more-powerful all-around in the CPU department than the Dimensity 1000+, as seen in the Xiaomi Redmi K30... |
5G-equipped Samsung SGH-N378 spotted on GeekBench running Snapdragon 750G Posted: 21 Nov 2020 03:00 PM PST A rather peculiar GeekBench 5 benchmark run was recently spotted online from a device reporting itself as a "Samsung SHG-N375". The listing itself does not reveal much about the handset, aside from 6GB of RAM and an Android 11 OS. However, it has been brought to our attention by a reputable leakster, associated with some additional hardware info, that mentions an Adreno 619 GPU. Taking this into consideration, along with the GeekBench scores does, most-likely add up to a Snapdragon 750G chipset – one of Qualcomm's newer budget-friendly 5G offers. Samsung Galaxy S21 gets BIS certified in India Posted: 21 Nov 2020 01:00 PM PST The Galaxy S21 lineup is rumored to go official on January 14 next year, but as expected there's no confirmation from Samsung about that just yet. And while we are unlikely to see Samsung reveal the unveiling date of the S21 series this year, the vanilla S21 has been certified by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) in India, which is another indicator that the Korean tech giant will launch its upcoming Galaxy S flagships earlier than previous models. According to various leaks and rumors, the Galaxy S21 lineup includes three smartphones - Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra. And... |
OnePlus rolls out airport Charging Stations with nearby notifications for its users Posted: 21 Nov 2020 11:00 AM PST The concept behind the new OnePlus Charging Stations is pretty straight-forward – you find yourself at the airport in need of a quick top-up and your phone simply vibrates to guide you to a conveniently nearby charging station. The feature is initially launching in India and "feature" is actually an accurate way of describing it, since the Charging Stations in question will utilize a wireless beacon to notify nearby OnePlus devices. This requires software support on the user's device, as well and OnePlus is initially rolling it out to the OnePlus 8, OnePlus 7 and Nord series of... |
