Top 10 trending phones of week 46

Posted: 15 Nov 2020 06:24 AM PST

We were expecting the Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max to capitalize on its market launch and try to retake the lead it lost last week, but it came just short. The reason was that a shocking new leader emerged from the rumor mill. The Realme 7 5G was officially confirmed to debut next week and it seems it really got everyone's attention. It easily topped our trending chart ahead of the Pro Max and another yet-to-be-announced phone - the Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G. The upcoming Xiaomi mid-ranger completes its second week in the top 3 even though it's still some way from official status - certainly a good...

Introduction Go through the geeky team here at GSMArena and you can easily find a wealth of expertise on anything from drones and electric scooters to robot vacuum cleaners and fancy coffee makers. There are a bunch of avid gamers between us and plenty of tinkerers, so it should come as no surprise that there are a few VR enthusiasts in the mix, as well. This reviewer has personally owned an original HMD (Vive DK1) back in the day, followed by various experiments with Samsung's Gear VR and Google's Cardboard and Daydream platforms and View headsets. Beyond that, I have experience with the...

Weekly poll: will your next phone be small, medium or large?

Posted: 14 Nov 2020 10:59 PM PST

This year Apple unveiled its largest phone ever alongside the smallest iPhone in a long while. The iPhone 12 mini stands alone in its size category, as the SE is bigger (despite having a smaller screen) and the Xperia 5 II is not really a Compact phone. It's clear that at this moment large phones are winning, but Apple does have the uncanny ability to start new mobile trends. Next year could see Android makers returning to the mini category, after abandoning it years ago. If that happens, would you buy one? Or will you continue to go up in screen size until you get something that can...

JAYS f-Five True Wireless review

The f-Five True Wireless are the latest wireless earbuds from Swedish audio brand JAYS. They feature a truly wireless design and come in at an affordable $79 price tag while claiming to offer much of the same quality and performance as more expensive products. Design f-Five have a typical in-ear truly wireless design, where the two earbuds come inside a compact carry case that also doubles up as a charger. The case has a vertical design and is relatively small and lightweight. It is made out of hard matte plastic that doesn't feel particularly high quality but is...

Weekly poll results: Moto G 5G finds a fanbase, the G9 Power gets no love

Posted: 14 Nov 2020 01:25 PM PST

There is a clear favorite in last week's poll – the Moto G 5G secured just over half of the votes, giving it a decisive victory against its sibling, the G9 Power, and (more importantly) warding off the negative votes. The comment section is not entirely in love with the Moto G 5G, some call it a "2015 design with 5G", even though the Snapdragon 750G chipset is brand new and there were no 48MP cameras back then (especially not on mid-rangers). But we understand where people are coming from, this model lacks wow factor. One commenter suggested that these two should have been styled after...

The upcoming OnePlus 9-series are said to launch earlier next year in March and the first batch of rumors started flying in this month. At first, wе heard that OnePlus is planning to launch three OnePlus 9 phones but then the rumor was quickly dismissed. Now we have CAD-based renders of what seems to be the vanilla OnePlus 9. The renders aren't very detailed, but there are a few things to consider here. For instance, the triple-camera module on the back looks just like the OnePlus 8T's while the front retains the off-centered punch-hole design for the selfie camera. The current...
