Posted: 27 Sep 2020 07:01 AM PDT We had a busy week with over a dozen new smartphones being thrown our way and in case you missed any of them you've come to the right place. We'll round up all the new phones here to make sure you are up to speed. Realme kicked off proceedings on Monday with the global C17 and the Narzo 20 trio headed to India. Sister brand Oppo gave us the newest member of its Reno4 family - an SE phone with trimmed down specs and even more aggressive price. LG had a quartet of mid-rangers to announce - the K42, K52, K62 and K71, while vivo came just short of that number with its three-strong V20... |
Posted: 27 Sep 2020 03:47 AM PDT After the Moto G9 Play came to our office, it's now time for the Moto G9 Plus, which was just unveiled. It's a phone, focused on three things - display, camera and battery, and for the price, it scores great on all three. Before we get going - here's the box contents - a 30W charger, a USB-C to USB-C cable and a case. The Moto G9 Play has a large 6.81-inch display of excellent 2400x1080px resolution. Embedded into its corner is punch hole for the 16MP selfie camera. Unfortunately the display is not OLED but IPS LCD and seemingly not one with the best contrast out there. Most... |

You can read the full interview below for all the details. Madhav Sheth - Vice President of Realme and CEO of Realme India and Europe The first-gen Narzo phones were technically exclusive to India, although we did see... |
Weekly poll results: Sony hits the bullseye with the Xperia 5 II Posted: 26 Sep 2020 10:11 PM PDT You asked and Sony delivered – that's the impression from last week's poll where the Sony Xperia 5 II received an overwhelmingly positive response from fans. The size seems perfect for most as only 16% stated that they wanted something smaller, something closer to the famed Compact models of yesteryear. Going through the comments, it seems that (aside from size) the biggest criticism is price. Normally we'd say that price is temporary and you can wait a few months – but that's easier said then done when the phone won't even launch until a month from now. If you hold out, you may... |
Huawei Freebuds Pro earphones review Posted: 26 Sep 2020 06:33 PM PDT Huawei introduced the Freebuds Pro earlier this month as the company's most premium true wireless earphones and they are already on sale at some markets. We got a pair from Huawei to spend a few weeks with and review all the new features, including the active noise cancellation. Design and comfort Unlike its Freebuds 3 earphones that followed the Apple AirPods' design, the Freebuds Pro provide a fresh take at what TWS should look like. Yet, the boxy "stem" was as much design as it was an engineering decision as Huawei crammed a lot of hardware inside to enable all of the "Pro"... |
New Xbox app on iOS will let you stream games from console to iPhone/iPad Posted: 26 Sep 2020 02:25 PM PDT An upcoming major update to the Xbox app for iOS will allow users to stream games from their Xbox consoles to their iPhones and iPads. The same feature was rolled out recently in beta for Android users (after being tested as Console Streaming about a year ago) and its debut on iOS is imminent as well, in time for the November 10 market launch of Microsoft's latest Xbox Series X and Series S. The app will be able to launch your Xbox, which will power on quietly and without turning on the status light, and you'll be able to do that both over Wi-Fi when on the same network, as well as... |
Oppo Reno4 Lite available for purchase through Ukrainian retailer's website Posted: 26 Sep 2020 12:35 PM PDT The Oppo Reno4 Lite got FCC certified a few days ago with specs identical to the F17 Pro that's currently only available in India. Oppo is yet to officially announce the Reno4 Lite, but we now know it is indeed a rebadged F17 Pro, as it's available for purchase in Ukraine through an online retailer. Since the Reno4 Lite is a rebranded F17 Pro, you get a Helio P95 SoC under the hood and the smartphone boots to Android 10 with ColorOS 7.2 on top. It packs a 6.43" FullHD+ AMOLED display that has a fingerprint reader underneath for biometric authentication. For photography, the Reno4... |
Realme 7i India launch imminent as it appears on support page Posted: 26 Sep 2020 10:40 AM PDT Realme announced the Realme 7 and Realme 7 Pro in India earlier this month, and it may soon bring the Realme 7i to the country, as the smartphone has appeared on the support page of the company's official Indian site. The Realme 7i was launched in Indonesia last week. It's powered by the Snapdragon 662 SoC with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage onboard. The smartphone runs Android 10-based Realme UI out of the box and sports a 6.5" 90Hz LCD of HD+ resolution, that has a punch hole in the upper-left corner for the 16MP selfie camera. The back of the phone houses a fingerprint reader keeping... |
Nokia 7 Plus receiving maintenance release update, September 1 security patch too Posted: 26 Sep 2020 08:35 AM PDT The Nokia 7 Plus was announced all the way back in February 2018 and went on sale in April of that year. According to the Nokia official updates tracker, it's gotten 40 software updates as of this September 2. A new one's just gone live, though it hasn't made it to the tracker yet. The build number is 00WW_4_16B and it's a Maintenance release - so it's not just the latest security patch, but also bug fixes and such. A security patch is, of course, included - dated September 1. Don't get your hopes up though - the new build is still based on Android 10. Nokia 7 Plus running Oreo at... |
