On the front, we see a waterdrop notch display while the right-hand-side houses the fingerprint scanner. The phone will also come with a 5G...

Galaxy M41 may be Samsung's first phone to use third-party OLED display

Posted: 15 Jun 2020 06:09 AM PDT

Samsung Display still dominates the small OLED display business (i.e. phones, watches, tablets), largely on the back of the sibling Samsung Electronics division but also high-profile customers like Apple. Now the company is looking to source OLED displays from external manufacturers. The first phone to use a non-Samsung OLED will be the Galaxy M41, according to insiders. They add that Samsung has already chosen China Star Optoelectronics Technology (CSOT), which is owned by TCL. However, the company also looked at BOE as a potential alternative supply line, perhaps even as a source for...

Microsoft's Surface Duo to come as early as July

Posted: 15 Jun 2020 04:41 AM PDT

The COVID-19 outbreak messed with Microsoft's plans more than once forcing the company to postpone its Windows 10X launch. One would think that the much-anticipated Surface Duo Android device is also being delayed but according to a new report, the company might actually be ahead of schedule. Microsoft is allegedly rushing things to announce the device before the Samsung Galaxy Fold 2, which is coming on August 5. That would mean the announcement will happen in the following weeks, so Microsoft has enough time to build some hype ahead of the market release. Of course, it's hard...

Posted: 15 Jun 2020 02:04 AM PDT

Xiaomi is working on two Redmi phones that will be cheaper than the CNY 1,000 Redmi 10X 4G, reports Digital Chat Station. Could one of them be the newly-announced Redmi 9? That seems to be the case as the two devices reportedly use MediaTek Helio G8x chipsets (MT6969T and MT6769V/CT). The 10X 4G has a G85, the Redmi 9 has a G80, so we're in the right ballpark. Depending on the specifics, we may be looking at the Redmi 9 and a Redmi 9A (a model that doesn't officially exist yet). The Redmi 9 still hasn't made an appearance on Xiaomi's official website in China, even after its...

Sony WH-CH710N wireless noise-canceling headphones review

Posted: 14 Jun 2020 04:37 PM PDT

The Sony WH-CH710N are a relatively affordable pair of noise-canceling headphones. They are the successor to the CH700N, which we quite liked when we reviewed them two years ago. The CH710N continue the tradition of offering active noise-canceling at more reasonable pricing while also having a solid battery life. Design The design of the new CH710N is made to be more in line with the recent 2019-2020 Sony headphones. This means a more uniform and, frankly, a boring exterior that is just a single material, color, and texture used for the entirety of the headphone frame and earcups. The...

Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite in for review

Posted: 14 Jun 2020 01:22 PM PDT

Xiaomi's invasion of our office continues with the Mi Note 10 Lite. It was introduced as a cheaper alternative of the Mi Note 10 cameraphone, and now it is with us to determine whether it strikes a good balance between price and performance. Our unit is in Midnight Black color, and with its appearance out of the box it is already impressive - we don't often see midrangers with AMOLED screens and curved sides, so the Mi Note 10 Lite is easily among the better lookers in its price segment. Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite is already selling at multiple markets with a starting price of €349 for...

Posted: 14 Jun 2020 09:39 AM PDT

Welcome to your week's recap. Amazingly the most popular device of the week wasn't a phone but rather the Sony PlayStation 5. The PlayStation 5 will come in a sleek new white and black body meant to stand upright. It will be sold in a version with an optical 4K Blue-ray drive and a version without one, called PlayStation 5 Digital Edition. We also saw a listing for the PS 5 on Amazon, citing a price tag of £599.99 ($760/€670). The next-gen console is due sometime in the second half of 2021. Moving on to OnePlus and its first truly-affordable phone in years. The OnePlus Z' specs and...
