| TSMC changes its forecast for 2020 due to COVID-19 Posted: 17 Apr 2020 07:45 AM PDT TSMC's forecast at the beginning of this year looked pretty promising with estimated 8% market growth excluding the memory chip sector. But during yesterday's investors conference, the company lowered its foundry market growth forecast to somewhere between 7 and 13%, down from 17%. TSMC was forced to adopt "a more conservative view of 2020" due to the decreasing demand of mobile devices from the end consumer due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The company expects this to be an issue for months to come. Market analysts cite 7-9% worldwide market decrease in smartphone sales throughout the... |

| Meizu 17 to arrive on April 22 Posted: 17 Apr 2020 06:00 AM PDT One of the low-key flagships this year is Meziu's top-tier offering - the Meizu 17. It's still unreleased, but it was subjected to plenty of leaks for the past few months, so we know what to expect. Now, we even know when it will arrive. And no, it's not today as initially thought. It appears that we were a bit lost in translation and Meizu's announcement today was all about the mSmart 5G technology. According to the official teaser poster, the handset is supposed to arrive on April 22 and the announcement comes with a full-frontal render of the device confirming what we've seen so... |
| Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 surfaces on TENAA listing Posted: 17 Apr 2020 04:00 AM PDT With almost all Redmi Note 9 family members released already, it's time for the vanilla Redmi Note 9 to go out as well. And according to this TENAA listing, we won't have to wait much longer. The same handset popped up on the Chinese 3C certification website as well. Now, as with all TENAA listings, this one gives away the main specs along with most of the design. The latter seems to be in line with the rest of the Redmi Note 9 handsets with a quad-camera setup on the back. The display is 6.43", IPS LCD with a standard these days 1080 x 2340px resolution. Battery is rated at 4,920... |

Well, a video shared by Huawei on its official Weibo account just confirmed those bits. At the 0:13 mark, you can also see a smartphone with curved edge display, which could be the nova 7 Pro rumored to have the Kirin 990 5G SoC at the helm. You can watch the short video below. Additionally, a Huawei smartphone bearing model code HNB-AN10 and said to be the nova 7 has appeared on Geekbench with Android 10 and 8GB... |

However, the company today announced that it will unveil the Narzo 10 lineup on April 21 through a pre-recorded video which will be streamed at 12:30 PM local time (7 AM UTC). Realme Narzo 10... |
| Our Huawei P40 video review is up Posted: 17 Apr 2020 12:24 AM PDT Huawei's flagship P series has expanded some more this year, when alongside the 'normal' model, the 'lite' version, and the 'Pro', we're also getting a Pro+ in a few weeks. And while the P40 lite is a P40 in name only, the 'vanilla' P40 is right now the Chinese company's 'entry-level' flagship smartphone. Sure, it may not have all the bells and whistles, but it should still deliver a lot of what that flagship experience is all about. Does it, though? Well, for that we suggest you get comfortable, grab your beverage of choice, popcorn too if you must, and hit play on our newly minted Huawei... |

| Honor 9X Lite is now official in Finland Posted: 16 Apr 2020 11:16 PM PDT Two months ago we spotted a phone called Honor 9X Lite, and now it surprisingly appeared in Finland. The device shares a lot of features with the Honor 8X like some hardware and the overall footprint, but there are some improvements like a 48 MP camera in a setup with a completely new design, and a fancy paint job. The Honor 9X Lite sticks to the dated Kirin 710 chipset, but there is a simple reason - the platform is approved for Google services and Honor doesn't want to miss to cash on that. Memory-wise, the phone is offered with 4 GB RAM and 128 GB storage, and there is room for... |

This comes after developers got their second preview build of the upcoming OS version yesterday. iOS 13.4.5 and iPadOS 13.4.5 are both minor updates, as their naming scheme strongly implies. They're focused primarily on bug fixing, under the hood improvements, and small tweaks and changes. | OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro launch in China, you won't like the prices Posted: 16 Apr 2020 07:41 PM PDT Earlier this week, OnePlus made its latest smartphones official, the 8 and 8 Pro. That was the global launch, though, whereas today the company unveiled the same duo for the Chinese market. This is quickly going to get controversial. Not the mere fact of there being a local launch in China - something similar is expected to happen in India soon. We're talking about the pricing. See, one of the main complaints we've seen against the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro internationally is that they are even more expensive than their respective predecessors, in a price hike game that has pretty much happened... |

This model was unveiled back in February alongside the Moto G Stylus, and they are both now finally up for grabs in the US. The long wait may have been worth it, though, as the Moto G Power is priced at just $249, while its stylus-endowed cousin is going for $299. You can buy either one from Motorola's online store, B&H, and Best Buy. If you go with Best Buy, note that you can get $50 off these prices if you activate wireless service immediately upon purchase. The price you'll need to pay to grab one is $650, and you can choose any color as long as it's Prism Black. The Play 5G will come with a quad-camera setup headlined by a 48MP Sony main shooter believed to be the IMX586. There's also a 12MP selfie camera. In addition, we have a selfie sample from the 12MP front-facing... |
| Robert Downey Jr.'s OnePlus 8 Pro ad goes live Posted: 16 Apr 2020 12:21 PM PDT Here's that OnePlus 8 Pro ad starring Robert Downey Jr. that we've been waiting for a month. To refresh your memory, RDJ also did ads for the OnePlus 7 Pro and 7T. Anyway, on to the new one. This ad is lighthearted and fun, but does a surprisingly good job of showing off all the new features - wireless charging, 5G, water resistance and, of course, that cool new green color. Now, we've never said "I am Iron Man", at least not on film, but we also spent some time with the OnePlus 8 Pro - you can find our thoughts on the new flagship in our hands-on review (we also handled its... |
| Posted: 16 Apr 2020 11:02 AM PDT We've already dealt with the Oppo Find X2 Pro and gave it a lot of praise for its lovely display, its cameras and its excellent build. The Oppo Find X2 is now here at HQ and it shares a lot of what made the Pro so good, only it costs a little less. Here are our quick first impressions of the Oppo Find X2, along with an unboxing. The Find X2 Pro comes with a 65W charger, USB-C cable, USB-C headphones and a complimentary silicone case. The Find X2 is ever so slightly shorter than the Find X2 Pro and noticeably thinner. Up front it has the same premium 6.7-inch 1440p AMOLED with... |
