Huawei files two patents for sliding displays Posted: 16 Apr 2020 07:42 AM PDT Huawei already has two foldable phones under its belt - the Mate X and the more widely available current the Mate Xs. However, the company wants to go even further in the flexible panel world and has just patented two new design for sliding displays. There are two models, both of them using part of the screen from the backside to extend the front, although they have some key structural differences. Model A has some sort of scroller on the frame that allows the panel to extend without changing the thickness - the panel simply rolls on the front. Model B sees the entire rear part...
Honor 30 Pro+ videography skills showcased in promo video Posted: 16 Apr 2020 06:51 AM PDT The Honor 30 Pro+ turned people's heads when it was announced yesterday - besides the flagship 5G chipset, it packs some impressive camera gear, including a 50MP Sony IMX700 sensor (1/1.28" with RYYB filter) and a periscope lens with 5x optical zoom. One of the first promo videos shows the beautiful footage you can capture with the phone. Well, you and a professional video crew - this clip features plenty of aerial shots and the phone even takes a dive underwater at one point (even though it's only rated at IP54). That aside, the phone can shoot cinematic 4K HDR timelapses as you see in...
Insiders: Sony will produce only a limited number of PlayStation 5 consoles at lauch Posted: 16 Apr 2020 05:58 AM PDT Bloomberg is citing inside sources who claim that Sony will produce a limited number of PlayStation 5 units by March 2021 - the target is 5 to 6 million. For comparison, the PS4 sold 7.5 million units in its first two quarters. The cause for that is reportedly how expensive the powerful hardware is proving to manufacture. Sony detailed the console hardware, which will include an octa-core Zen 2 based CPU and a RDNA 2 GPU that promises up to 10.3 TFLOPS, as well as a custom SSD that will be faster than what the current crop of PCs have access to. At first, these components will be quite...
Samsung is working on One UI 2.1 for Galaxy Note9 Posted: 16 Apr 2020 05:09 AM PDT While Samsung brought Android 10 with One UI 2.0 to the Galaxy Note9, the company is yet to push the latest One UI version 2.1 on board. We even saw reports that Note9 owners will not get the latest firmware update, but now Samsung has confirmed it's already testing it and deciding which features can be brought down to the older Galaxy Note. Samsung South Korean community forum post (machine translated) According to a moderator post in the Samsung South Korean community forum, testing for the Note9 One UI 2.1 update is already underway. The same source explains that porting all the...
nubia Play will have 5,100 mAh battery, design and retail box appear online Posted: 16 Apr 2020 04:21 AM PDT The nubia Play with 5G is coming on April 21. Today, the company teased the retail box of the phone as an outline of the back panel, hinting the overall design, appeared on JD.com. However, the most intriguing piece of specs was revealed by brand CEO Ni Fei, who revealed the battery capacity of 5,100 mAh. The executive also added the battery will support up to 30W fast-charging with USB-PD, which is compatible with Quick Charge 4.0. We are still wondering whether this device will have Snapdragon 765G that supports the standard, or there will be another SoC that has the equivalent...
Motorola Edge specs confirmed by Google Play Console Posted: 16 Apr 2020 03:33 AM PDT The Motorola Edge passed through Geekbench a couple of days ago, revealing some of its key specs. Now it also popped up on Google Play Console, corroborating the specifications revealed by the benchmark database. The Play Console listing confirms that Motorola Edge has the Snapdragon 765 SoC at the helm with 6GB RAM onboard. It boots to Android 10 and packs a FullHD+ display. Google Play Console doesn't reveal the diagonal of the screen or any other details of the Motorola Edge, but previous leaks claim it will sport a 6.67" 90Hz OLED panel with a punch hole in the top-left corner...
OnePlus launching a mystery product tomorrow in China, could it be the OnePlus Z? Posted: 16 Apr 2020 02:44 AM PDT OnePlus released its latest flagship lineup just the other day globally but the Chinese event is scheduled for tomorrow, April 17. And while everyone thought the Chinese event would feature the same lineup as the global one, the company teased the arrival of a new mystery product tomorrow. Our initial thought after reading about this was the OnePlus Z or the OnePlus 8 Lite as it was initially referred to. But by announcing it in China and not saying anything about it on the global event could mean two things. It's either because of supply shortages and the company has decided to...
Realme X50 Youth spotted in 3C listing with 5G and 30W fast charging Posted: 16 Apr 2020 01:59 AM PDT Back in December, we came across a certification for the Realme X50 Youth, which is a more affordable version of the standard Realme X50 5G. Now, the same phone with the RMX2052 model number was spotted in the database of China's 3C agency, confirming it will carry 5G connectivity and 30W (5V@6A) fast charging just like the regular X50 5G. Realme X50 Youth certification Other than that we don't have much to work with but based on rumors, the X50 Youth should retain most of the features from the X50 5G including a 6.57-inch IPS display with a punch-hole cutout and triple camera...
Apple iPhone SE (2020) has 3 GB RAM, 1821 mAh battery Posted: 16 Apr 2020 01:07 AM PDT Apple finally introduced the iPhone SE (2020) with an A13 Bionic chipset and an improved camera. The company kept its tradition not to reveal RAM and battery capacity of its devices, but thanks to a listing at China Telecom's website, we got the details. According to the carrier, the new iPhone has 3GB RAM, which is an increase over the 2GB of the iPhone 8, but lower than the 4GB in the other A13 phones in the iPhone 11 family. However, the power cell remains 1,821 mAh - exactly the same as the iPhone 8. Other specs that the iPhone SE (2020) inherited from the 2017 flagship are the...

Nokia 9.3 PureView's color options teased by Juho Sarvikas Posted: 16 Apr 2020 12:19 AM PDT A Nokia-specific leakster account has been talking about the color options of the company's upcoming Nokia 9.3 PureView flagship. Somewhat surprisingly the poll was acknowledged by Juho Sarvikas, Nokia's CPO, who dropped a pretty massive hint about the phones' colors. He says his favorite options are Polar Night as well as a "bold and lighter" shade similar to the copper hues HMD has done previously. And when the colors rank so highly with a high-level executive, we can expect them to make it to the final product. I don't know whats going on here (as usual). I'm more like Polar...
Oppo A92s appears in official images, revealing color options Posted: 15 Apr 2020 11:17 PM PDT Oppo A92s doesn't have a launch date yet, but TENAA already revealed its design and specs. And now, it has appeared in a set of new official images, which leave little to the imagination. You can see the A92s packs a punch hole display, which according to TENAA measures 6.57" diagonally, has 2400x1080 pixel resolution, and is rumored to have 120Hz refresh rate or touch sampling rate. On the back, you get four cameras housed inside a rectangular cutout with LED flash in a unique style. The A92s has the volume rocker and SIM card slot on the left side, while the power button with...
Huawei nova 7 series launch date confirmed Posted: 15 Apr 2020 10:28 PM PDT Huawei was rumored to expand the nova 7 lineup with the nova 7, nova 7 SE and nova 7 Pro on April 23 and now the company took it to Weibo to confirm announcement. Huawei's Weibo post also includes a poster having a silhouette of a smartphone with a rectangular camera bump on the back, but it's unclear whether this is the vanilla nova 7, SE or the Pro version. Huawei hasn't revealed any details of the nova 7 trio yet, but from previous leaks, we know the regular nova 7, nova 7 SE and nova 7 Pro will be powered by the Kirin 985, 820 and 990 5G, respectively. A leaked image also...
Apple kills the iPhone 8, stops selling the iPhone 8 Plus Posted: 15 Apr 2020 09:28 PM PDT Now that the 2020 iPhone SE is official, Apple has decided to kill the iPhone 8. First of all, yes, the company was still selling the iPhone 8, all the way up until today. Second, this makes sense when you think about it, as the iPhone SE is basically just an iPhone 8 with the latest A13 chipset and better camera software. And slightly differing color options. It's also cheaper than the iPhone 8 used to be, so there's really no point in these two competing against each other in the company's roster. Apple has also stopped selling the iPhone 8 Plus, but the situation is a bit more...
vivo NEX 3 5G finally receives Android 10 update Posted: 15 Apr 2020 08:39 PM PDT Today vivo started rolling out the update to Android 10 for the NEX 3 5G. A closed beta testing phase that accepted only a few units started about one month ago, and it seems like the testing went smoothly, as now we're treated to the finalized release. The NEX 3S 5G launched with Android 10 on board recently, and as this is just a NEX 3 with the Snapdragon 865 chipset and a new color version, it stands to reason that vivo didn't have to do a lot of software tweaking for this rollout. vivo NEX 3 5G running Android 10 with Funtouch 10 Of course it's nothing close to 'vanilla'...
Honor 30's Kirin 985 chipset gets benchmarked, scores slightly better than the Kirin 820 Posted: 15 Apr 2020 07:44 PM PDT Today Huawei's sub-brand Honor took the wraps off of the 30 series - comprised of the eponymous Honor 30, but also the 30 Pro and 30 Pro+. The Honor 30 is powered by the brand new Kirin 985 chipset, which hasn't been featured on any other devices before - unlike the Kirin 990 5G that's in the Honor 30 Pro and Pro+. Given its name, you'd expect its performance to be incredibly close to that of the Kirin 990, but it unfortunately looks like that's not the case. In fact, it's closer to the 980, but doesn't even match that. The Kirin 985 seems to be somewhere in between the Kirin 820 and the...
Nokia 8 Sirocco receiving Android 10 update with April security patch Posted: 15 Apr 2020 06:53 PM PDT HMD Global has released the Android 10 update for the Nokia 8 Sirocco, making it the third Nokia smartphone after Nokia 3.2 and 4.2 to get the latest version of Android this month. The new build also bumps up the Android security patch level on the Nokia 8 Sirocco to April 2020. HMD is rolling the Android 10 update in batches, with the first batch including 35 countries...
This is our first look at MIUI 12 Posted: 15 Apr 2020 06:00 PM PDT Xiaomi may have leaked the first images of MIUI 12 through the beta version of the MiSettings app. Xiaomi releases beta versions of its apps to its MIUI Community forums and the latest version of the MiSettings APK, which was released a few days ago, featured a revamped user interface. A keen-eyed XDA-Developers forum member noticed this and collected a few screenshots. Xiaomi has since pulled the APK down, lending credibility to the fact that these are early stills from MIUI 12. Below are a few side by side images of the current and the leaked UI of the MiSettings app. The biggest...
