Weekly poll: Did Oppo hit the mark with Find X2 and Find X2 Pro? Posted: 08 Mar 2020 06:44 AM PDT Oppo restarted its flagship Find line last year with a phone that featured a motorized pop-up housing both front and rear cameras, plus a partnership with Lamborghini that gave us the first phone to support 50W fast charging. This year's phones have more conventional design, but the camera and charging are even more impressive. The Oppo Find X2 and X2 Pro return to the 1440p resolution, not seen on an Oppo phone since the Find 7. And this year it's an expansive 6.7" AMOLED panel with 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate. The display supports HDR10+ (and cover 100% of DCI-P3)...
Flashback: Oppo Find 7 had the better 1440p screen, introduced VOOC fast charging Posted: 08 Mar 2020 03:37 AM PDT Last week's Flashback article focused on the first 1440p screen on a mobile phone. Well, sort of the first. The Oppo Find 7 - the subject of today's article - was announced first but arrived on the market after the LG G3. Also, as some of you correctly pointed out, the vivo Xplay3S had a 6.0" 1440p display in 2013, though that one didn't get a wide release, leaving the LG and Oppo phones to be the first in just about every market. The story of the Oppo Find 7 goes beyond the screen, the company had built up enough confidence to go head to head with flagships from Samsung, LG and Sony....
Posted: 07 Mar 2020 11:23 PM PST Last week's poll shows that Sony nailed it - its Mark II phones are just what people want. While Xperias are popular in online discussions, when you reach the store, wallet in hand, they are suddenly losing some of their appeal. The Sony Xperia 1 II improves the triple camera with larger main and ultrawide sensors, longer telephoto lens (3x zoom) and 4K/60fps support. It brings back the 3.5mm headphone jack and increases the battery capacity. All these changes proved a hit with voters. The maybe there, maybe not 90Hz mode for the screen didn't bother many people. In fact, very few...

HTC publishes revenue results for February, down 33% YoY Posted: 07 Mar 2020 11:10 AM PST HTC has published it's monthly revenue report, citing an unaudited consolidated revenue for February 2020 of NT$0.42 billion, or just over US$14 million. That's a drop of almost precisely 33% compared to the same month last year, and 12% down from the month of January, continuing the downfall of the once-successful Taiwanese phone maker. HTC U12+ We had almost forgotten HTC existed ourselves, but it reminded us it's still kicking late last month with the release of the Wildfire R70 entry-level smartphone for India and Thailand. It'll take more than that to have us truly convinced HTC...

Well, if a few strings in an APK teardown can count as tangible. The folks over at XDA Developers have looked into the latest version of the OnePlus Launcher available on the Play Store (4.3.3) and have found mentions of a Verizon folder to hold Big Red's bloatware.
