You want dark mode for your Facebook app? Get the Lite Posted: 15 Feb 2020 06:40 AM PST Smartphone UIs have been getting increasing darker over the past couple of years, culminating with the arrival of a system-wide dark mode with Android 10 and iOS 13. A lot of the major apps had the option for a dark theme before that, but even afterwards a couple of the most used apps don't offer the capability just yet - Google Maps (outside of the navigation mode) and Facebook. Well, it seems that at least Facebook's dark mode is on the way, judging by a recent development in that direction in Facebook Lite for Android - a toggle has appeared in the hamburger menu, letting you make the...

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip teardown suggests reasonable repairability Posted: 15 Feb 2020 02:40 AM PST The Galaxy Z Flip is the second iteration of a commercial foldable smartphone from Samsung following the Galaxy Fold, and it's been available in stores since yesterday. It didn't take long for someone to get a unit on an operating table and take it apart and we're now looking at a teardown video, courtesy of PBKreviews. In the video, we get to witness the usual process of prying off the glass backs (two in the Flip's case) after liberal application of heat. This gives access to the PCBs revealing a stacked design on the mainboard. Two separate batteries are to be found - smaller one on...

Report: Apple will design its own 5G antennas for upcoming 5G iPhone Posted: 14 Feb 2020 11:09 PM PST Although it isn't available everywhere, 5G is undoubtedly going to be one of the biggest selling points for major smartphone makers this year. Apple is one of those companies, with reports that the company will release more than one 5G-supported smartphone. According to a report by Fast Company, Apple may not opt to use Qualcomm's own QTM 525 mmWave antenna module and instead design its own 5G antenna. Cited by the source "with knowledge of Apple's plans", Apple will be using the Qualcomm X55 modem on its 5G iPhones and it will design its own antenna for it. Apple is apparently working...

T-Mobile's OnePlus 6T finally receives Android 10 update Posted: 14 Feb 2020 07:33 PM PST The OnePlus 6T has been running Android 10 for a few months now, but not so on T-Mobile. Units bought from the magenta carrier have been stuck on Android 9 Pie, for what seemed like forever. Not anymore, though. The carrier has finally started rolling out the update to Android 10 for its OnePlus 6T units today. As usual, this is a staged affair, so it may take a few days before your TMo 6T pops up that update notification, but it is on the way nevertheless. Once you install the ~1.6GB new software, you will have Android 10 on board, as well as the December 2019 security patch level....

| Our Samsung Galaxy Note10 Lite video review is out Posted: 14 Feb 2020 09:51 AM PST For the first time in a long while, Samsung brought a budget version of its heavy-hitting Galaxy Note. The phone has been residing in our office for a while now and we are all set up with our full video review.
