| iPhone 11 outscores XS Max in DxOMark camera test, comes close to the 11 Pro Max Posted: 23 Jan 2020 08:47 AM PST The Apple iPhone 11 received an overall camera score of 109 from DxOMark, beating the iPhone XS Max in both the photo and video categories. It is also well ahead of its immediate predecessor, the iPhone XR. Compared to the current generation Apple flagships, the phone's video score is within 1 point of the iPhone 11 Pro Max result as it offers identical features and comparable image quality. Predictably, the iPhone 11 got docked a few points for the lack of a telephoto camera - the phone can't deliver the same quality zoom and portrait shots without it. This accounts for most of the... |
| Samsung Galaxy A41 will sport a 3,500 mAh battery Posted: 23 Jan 2020 07:59 AM PST The Samsung Galaxy A41 is due to arrive in the coming months and a new certification from safety Korea just revealed the phone's battery. The cell will feature a 3,500 mAh capacity and bears the EB-BA415ABY identification number which falls in line with the A41's own SM-A415 model number. The actual photo of the cell is not the best quality but multiple other accounts have confirmed the 3,500 mAh capacity to be true. According to rumors, the charging speeds will remain at 15W just like the Galaxy A40. We've already seen details which suggest the A41's main camera will have a 48MP... |

Now, the fans are up for a surprise, because the Galaxy S20 Ultra is rumored to have stainless-steel frame. The leakster that brought us the first live images of the device has disclosed the new info in a tweet. Apple iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max are the only current flagships with stainless-steel frame Currently, only Apple uses stainless steel for its body. The last three generations of iPhones have all been implementing the design that in theory scratches less and provides an overall better... |
| Two Oppo phones visit Geekbench - with Snapdragon 765 and Helio P90 Posted: 23 Jan 2020 06:15 AM PST The Oppo PCLM50 passed through TENAA - this seems to be a new version of the Reno3 or the Reno3 Pro. There was some uncertainty about the chipset, but Geekbench just cleared that up, it is indeed a Snapdragon 765G, the same chipset as the Pro. The non-Pro model uses a MediaTek Dimensity 1000 and has a 64MP camera instead of 48MP as on the PCLM50. However, the screen diagonal matches the non-Pro model, so it's not 100% clear if this will have the "Pro" label or not. Either way, the unit that ran the benchmark packed 8GB of RAM and featured Android 10, just as expected. Geekbench:... |

| Honor's 2020 cameras will bring larger pixels, not higher resolution Posted: 23 Jan 2020 02:23 AM PST Honor's latest flagship is V30 Pro and it has a 40 MP main shooter (with Quad Bayer so effectively 10 MP), as in the Huawei Mate 30 Pro smartphone. Now, according to the marketing manager of the subsidiary, the company won't be following other makers who have either already released or are about to release phones 100MP+ cameras. Honor says that this obviously can't be achieved without maintaining the 0.8μm pixel size and that goes against its understanding that 1μm pixels are the smallest that can ensure flagship-tier image quality. According to Kailiang Shen, Honor will... |

A mysterious device dubbed "realme RMX2071" managed to reach a result of 574,985, which is the highest any device by the brand has ever achieved. The phone could be named Realme X50 Pro as an upgrade over the Realme X50 5G, running a Snapdragon 765G chipset. The CPU of the Oppo PCLM50 can reach 2.4 GHz and comes coupled to a chipset with a 5G modem. Given the Oppo Reno3 is running on Mediatek's fastest Dimensity 1000 platform, we are probably... |
| DxOMark ranks the Sony Xperia 5 in the same class as the Galaxy Note8 and iPhone 8 Plus Posted: 22 Jan 2020 09:17 PM PST The latest smartphone tested by DxOMark is the Sony Xperia 5. Announced at IFA in September, the Xperia 5 is a midrange device with triple cameras, all with 12MP sensors. The Sony Xperia 5 was released a few months after the flagship-grade Xperia 1. Despite the former's mid-range position and hardware, it uses an identical triple-camera setup as the Xperia 1. Though there were improvements over the Xperia 1's cameras, DxOMark wasn't impressed with the Xperia 5. It received an overall score of 95 (the Xperia 1 got 91) with a 101 for photography and 83 for video. Slight improvements in... |

| Xiaomi Mi 9 long-term review video Posted: 22 Jan 2020 01:02 PM PST It seems like the original Xiaomi Mi 9 flagship was released forever ago. Well, it has been almost an year, but the current mobile industry pace is what really managed to bury this otherwise still interesting phone rather quickly. Our own Angie has been daily-driving the Mi 9 for a few months now and has a few things to share from her experience. Now, we definitely won't go as far as to try and convince you or ourselves that none of the newer devices that succeed the Mi 9 are a better deal in 2020. Some of these are really hard to disregard, like the Mi 9T Pro or the Redmi K30,... |
| FCC confirms the Samsung Galaxy A01 is headed to the US Posted: 22 Jan 2020 11:42 AM PST Samsung has really been expanding the Galaxy A family lately if not necessarily in the most straight-forward and easy to understand way. The Galaxy A01, quietly announced last month, is at least doubly confusing. Not only are we still lacking specifics on certain aspects of its internals, like the chipset, but that naming convention seems really odd. Samsung Galaxy A01 There is still little official word on when and where the phone will be made available too. Thanks to a couple of FCC pages, we now at least have a hint as to the "where" part of that question as the Galaxy A01... |
