The US is about to to block more sales to Huawei

Posted: 15 Jan 2020 07:38 AM PST

The US - Huawei situation is way too complicated and multi-faceted to really get into right now. But, currently, as things stand, Huawei Technologies Co Ltd and over 40 of its subsidiaries are on the US entities list, which means that their products are subject to export and transfer government restrictions. Beyond that, there is also a US government ban on purchasing Huawei tech. This new development actually deals with the flip side of the sales and supply chain. Simplifying things quite a bit, the US currently has a De minimis Rule dictating the minimum percent of US-made components...

The folks over at LetsGoDigital have created mockup renders of the patents outlined in the patent submission. There are two devices in the patent, both dual-sided smartphones with screens that wrap-around in different directions. The first one is a wrap-around screen akin to the Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha Concept phone. Posted: 14 Jan 2020 08:03 PM PST

The phone, previously thought to be called Galaxy Bloom or Galaxy Fold 2, will reportedly come with a 3,300 mAh battery. That's definitely unimpressive, but it is bigger than what Motorola could fit into its reimagined foldable Razr with its disappointing 2,510 mAh cell. With that capacity, the Galaxy Z Flip at least has the potential to make it through one day of use that isn't very heavy, and the rumored fast...

Since Huawei isn't allowed to certify any new devices in relation to the ban imposed by the US government, the company is looking for ways to stay fresh in the mind of the consumer and one if them is to re-badge current smartphones from the company and add some incremental changes to the hardware. And this is exactly the case with the newly announced P30 Lite New Edition. It's basically the same P30 Lite smartphone launched a year ago but with bumps up the memory and storage. Realme X50 5G is heading to Russia next

Posted: 14 Jan 2020 09:33 AM PST

The Realme X50 5G will launch in Russia soon. The exact details for the release date and price are yet to be unveiled, however. Last year, the country's leading carrier, MTS, launched its 5G network with coverage in Moscow and St. Petersburg. The carrier uses Huawei equipment and supports both the mmWave and sub-6GHz standards. The Realme X50 5G is powered by the Snapdragon 765G chipset and supports only sub-6GHz 5G. That's going to limit its carrier support, for example Tele2 (in partnership with Ericsson) launched a mmWave network in Moscow. Source (in Russian)
