The Mate's ultra-wide has a substantially larger sensor and slightly narrower field of view, while the telephoto unit of the new phone is the 3x one found in the P30, and not the P30 Pro's 5x periscope. Posted: 06 Oct 2019 06:00 AM PDT  We have to give it to Microsoft - what seemed like a regular event about laptops set the Internet abuzz about dual screen devices. The Surface Duo in particular got people excited about the mix of Microsoft's hardware aesthetic combined with Androids mobile app ecosystem. The Surface Duo will have two 5.6" screens with a hinge between them. This isn't a foldable display and that's a good thing as it avoids all the issues plaguing their fragile screens. | Posted: 06 Oct 2019 03:00 AM PDT  The vivo NEX 3 beat the Huawei Mate 30 Pro by some three days to be the first smartphone announced with a waterfall display. We got to review the Mate first, but we're catching up. It's now the NEX' turn which we have here in 5G trim - same one we got to handle at the launch event. Not only was the vivo waterfall display first, but it's also missing a notch - we'll always prefer uninterrupted displays with no cutouts over notched ones, so the NEX has this going for it over the Mate. However, its global variant called Mi Smart Band 4 doesn't have either of those features. In a new development, if the latest report is to be believed, we will see the Mi Band 5 come with NFC outside China. It's unclear if the global version of the Mi Band 5 will have a built-in mic or not, but the report says that it will be more advanced and durable than previous models. | Disney will no longer accept Netflix ads on its entertainment TV channels Posted: 05 Oct 2019 09:50 AM PDT  Disney is banning Netflix ads on its entertainment TV networks, aiming to make it harder on the streaming giant as the company is preparing to launch its own streaming service Disney+. Disney owned ESPN will still accept Netflix ads. Out of a total advertising budget of $1.8 billion last year, Netflix spent $99.2 million on TV ads, 13% of them going to entertainment channels part of the Disney group. | Apple initiates service program for iPhone 6s and 6s Plus units that wouldn't power on Posted: 05 Oct 2019 08:20 AM PDT  Apple is starting a service program to repair iPhone 6s and 6s Plus units that may refuse to power on due to a component that could potentially fail. Apple doesn't disclose which exactly component is prone to failure, nor does it detail what the service operations are going to be. The affected devices fall within a limited serial number range and were manufactured between October 2018 and August 2019.
