Posted: 20 Oct 2019 08:30 AM PDT From aggressively priced entry-level devices to a true flagship in less than two years' time, Realme's journey is unlike any other smartphone company in recent memory. Initially, an Oppo offshoot, the young brand has quickly built its own identity in arguably the most competitive market in the world - India. After rising to prominence and growing at unparalleled speeds in terms of market share, Realme expanded its presence to China this past May and made its way to Europe later in June. At the time of writing, the Realme X2 Pro is the culmination of the brand's efforts in pushing the... |
Weekly poll: is the Pixel 4 or 4 XL the right phone for you? Posted: 20 Oct 2019 05:00 AM PDT We know many of you held off on buying a new phone, waiting to see what the new Pixel phones will be like. Yes, there were plenty of leaks, but still the smart thing to do was to hear the specs (good or bad) from the horse's mouth. Well, would you be buying a Google Pixel 4? Its 2,800mAh battery is something that leaked relatively close to the launch and while we hoped it wasn't true, it very much is. No upgrades to charging speed either (be it wired or wireless) even though other makers are racing each other with ever faster chargers. The Pixel 4 XL does better in the battery... |
Weekly poll results: the OnePlus 7T Pro is off to a rocky start Posted: 20 Oct 2019 02:00 AM PDT The OnePlus 7T Pro went on sale in India on October 12, in China on the 15th and in Europe on the 18th (and it's not coming to the US). We'll wait to see the initial sales numbers, but if last week's poll is any indication, the new Pro is not off to a good start. Only 1 in 5 people say they want one. Compare that to the OnePlus 7 Pro, which launched earlier this year, and polled much better with 2 in 5 people expressing interest. Of course, back then some were curious about what the 7T Pro will be like, so the old Pro could have scored even better. The bad signs were visible even back... |
Our Samsung Galaxy A60 video review is up Posted: 19 Oct 2019 11:00 PM PDT The Galaxy A60 that Samsung announced back in April has a complicated history, being practically identical to the Galaxy M40 and so far getting a limited market release. Still, it's part of the Korean company's ever-expanding and increasingly successful A-series so we were eager to see what it's all about. Hence, our in-depth review of it was born, but then we figured the A60 also deserves a video review of its own. The sweet and short video will walk you through everything that's interesting about the Galaxy A60, while obviously hitting upon the main features such as the screen, unlocking... |
Huawei MediaPad M7 renders show a metal tablet with slimmer bezels and optional stylus and keyboard Posted: 19 Oct 2019 07:00 PM PDT OK, to be fair, straight off the bat, the leaked MediaPad is clearly not an iPad clone. In fact, even though most people's first associating when seeing it might be one of Cupertino's current tablets, the look and feel of Samsung's Galaxy Tab S6 really isn't all that different. So, the correct way to describe what is allegedly going to be the MediaPad M7 and is design would definitely be trendy and contemporary. That, of course, means slim bezels and what looks to be a metal body. As per the original source of the leak, the device is internally know under the codename "Marx". But given... |
Twitter's Android app gets OLED-friendly dark mode in new alpha build Posted: 19 Oct 2019 05:00 PM PDT Twitter rolled out an OLED-friendly dark mode called "Lights out" back in March, but it was only limited to iOS users. More than six months later, it's rolling out to Android users as well, albeit on the alpha version of the app. The lights out mode is different than the current dark mode and turns the UI of the app to pitch black instead of dark blue. This does a better job at power consumption on devices that sport an OLED display. Twitter for Android with 'Lights out' enabled If you are an alpha user, you will find the option to enable the lights out dark mode under the... |
Apple officially warns older iPhone and iPad users to update their software or risk a nasty GPS bug Posted: 19 Oct 2019 02:30 PM PDT A new Apple official warning calls for immediate action on older devices. Mainly the iPhone 5 and earlier as well as the iPad 4 and earlier models. Users on these devices need to go in their settings and update the software to the latest available version prior to November 3. For some of these devices that will be iOS 9.3.6, for others iOS 10.3.4, depending on their age. Any device that is not updated prior to the November 3 deadline can expect GPS location issues as well as potential problems with keeping accurate date and time. The latter, in tern, could prevent the Apple gadgets from... |
