Pixel 4 and 4 XL go official with 90Hz OLED screens and new telephoto cameras Posted: 15 Oct 2019 07:39 AM PDT The elevator pitch for the Pixel 4 duo is "90Hz screens and dual cameras". The two flagships come at the tail end of 2019 and represent Google's views of the current perfect Android phone. The screens are just about the only thing that sets the two models apart. The Google Pixel 4 features a 5.7" OLED panel with 1080p+ resolution. The XL model gets a larger, sharper 6.3" display with QHD+ resolution. In both cases, the aspect ratio is a clean 19:9 - there are no notches to complicate UI layout. There is a bit of a forehead that houses a lot of hardware, but more on that... |

Watch the Google Pixel 4 event here Posted: 15 Oct 2019 06:29 AM PDT Google is having an event in New York where it will officially unveil the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL alongside a bunch of other devices. While the leaks flood meant we know pretty much all there is to know about the duo, we are hoping the Mountain View company might have a trick or two in its sleeve, prepared for the event. In addition to the smartphones, we are hoping to see a new pair of Pixel Buds that can take on the competition of AirPods and Galaxy Buds. There is also a new Nest Mini incoming, and some leaks mentioned an updated Home Mini with a hole on the back to be attached on a... |
Realme reaches 17 million sales Posted: 15 Oct 2019 06:01 AM PDT Today Realme introduced the X2 Pro to the global audience at an event in Madrid that also saw the Realme X2 and Realme 5 Pro hitting Europe. Along with the new phones, the brand also announced that it now has over 17 million users across the world. The impressive number of customers was reached between May 16, 2018 (when the Realme 1 was announced) and October 8, 2019, which was last week, meaning the family has grown a bit more since then. During that time, the former Oppo subsidiary introduced over a dozen smartphones, and its aggresive pricing has clearly helped it... |

However, the Black Shark smartphones that are running MIUI 10 will instead get an upgrade to JoyUI 11 - a refined gaming-focused interface that uses only the core structure of the original MIUI. The new interface is aiming to provide better gaming experience to Black Shark phones, and Xiaomi promised more new features and plenty of themes for additional personalization of the smartphone. It is expected to have toggles for different game modes and an... |
Google Pixel 4 and 4 XL: what to expect Posted: 15 Oct 2019 04:18 AM PDT Are the Pixel 4 and 4 XL the most-leaked phones ever? They probably are, even though the previous generations give them a run for their money. The official event is later today but unless Google has managed to keep something major from hitting the web, we have an almost complete picture of the phones. Almost reluctantly, Google is leaving the single camera setup behind. The ultrawide second front camera of the Pixel 3 was neat, but unless selfies make up a large portion of your photo gallery, the rear camera is significantly more important. Pixel 4 in Clearly White, Just Black... |

Around the back, it has a fingerprint scanner keeping company to the quad camera setup aligned vertically in the upper-left corner. This setup is a combination of a 16MP main, 5MP ultrawide, 2MP depth, and a low-light sensor. The 5MP unit also lets you take macro shots of objects from as close as 2.5cm. Not just that, you can also record macro videos using the 5MP... |

While the new flagship X2 Pro was unveiled earlier today in China it's now making its way to Europe alongside the Realme 5 Pro and the vanilla Realme X2. Together these three will aim to compete with the likes of Xiaomi and Samsung in the Old Continent. Realme X2 Pro The Realme X2 Pro comes with a 6.5-inch "Fluid" Super AMOLED display of FHD+ resolution. There is a reworked UD fingerprint scanner that brings faster unlock speeds. Speaking of speed the phone is packing the... |
Huawei Enjoy 10 coming on October 18 Posted: 15 Oct 2019 02:00 AM PDT Huawei unveiled the Enjoy 10 Plus earlier last month with a notchless display and a triple camera setup. And now we learn the vanilla Enjoy 10 will officially follow it on October 18. Huawei took to Chinese social network Weibo to announce that it will launch 10 new products on Friday. The company doesn't explicitly mention the Enjoy 10, but the post includes images of a smartphone which looks similar to the Enjoy 10 we saw earlier this month, hinting at the arrival of Enjoy 10 later this week. The Enjoy 10 will feature a punch-hole display and sport a dual camera setup on its rear. The... |
Pete Lau addresses missing OnePlus 7T Pro 5G version Posted: 15 Oct 2019 01:15 AM PDT With 2019 bringing the initial push into 5G connectivity, OnePlus surprisingly decided to hold out on their second device with 5G. Back in June, the company announced its first 5G phone - the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G which was among the first phones to support the new network standard in Europe. More surprisingly though we didn't get a successor as the OnePlus 7T Pro isn't offered in a 5G trim. After the last week's OnePlus launch event, CEO Pete Lau spoke to the media and explained that "there wasn't enough of an opportunity to launch a second 5G device". It's not related to a Pro... |

Honor 20 Lite to arrive with an AMOLED screen on October 22 Posted: 14 Oct 2019 11:51 PM PDT Yesterday we heard that Honor is having an unveiling of the 20 Lite today. It turns out that this was a translation error and the company actually revealed only the launch date of the phone, including a photo of the device with a fancy blue-pink gradient. The Honor 20 Lite will officially arrive on October 22 with no fingerprint scanners on the back - the sensor will be on the front, under the AMOLED screen. Having an under-display fingerprint scanner is not a novelty in the smartphone industry, but for some reason, Honor has only one smartphone with the technology - the Magic... |

Pixel 4 pricing and cases, Nest Home Mini, and PixelBook Go all leak before tomorrow's event Posted: 14 Oct 2019 09:30 PM PDT This must have been one of the worst years to be surprised by a Google event. The Pixel 4 has widely leaked, leaving nothing to the imagination in the handsets' design. Earlier today, within 24 hours of the event, the Pixel's fabric cases leak, renders of the Nest Home Mini also leak, revealing an identical design to the Google Home Mini, and even a render of the PixelBook Go leaked, though we still don't know much about it. Let's start with something else that leaked today through a source cited by Droid Life, the Pixel 4's pricing. The smaller Pixel 4 is said to have the same asking... |
The Realme X2 Pro brings 90Hz OLED display, S855+ chipset and 64MP quad cam with optical zoom Posted: 14 Oct 2019 08:47 PM PDT The Realme X2 Pro is the brand's first proper flagship and it is such a massive jump up from the X2 that the two don't share much more than their name. Realme is no longer content with playing in the mid-field, with this phone it's challenging Xiaomi, Honor and OnePlus flagships directly. The phone boasts a 90Hz display - a "fluid" Super AMOLED with a 6.5" diagonal and 1080p+ resolution. Color rendering is bolstered by HDR10+ support and full coverage of the DCI-P3 color space. Behind the screen is a new, faster in-display fingerprint reader, which will unlock the phone in 0.23... |
OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro are receiving OxygenOS 10.0.1 update based on Android 10 Posted: 14 Oct 2019 06:30 PM PDT OnePlus has initially sent out the update to Android 10 in its stable form to the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro back in September, but then not a lot of people actually received it. As it turns out, the company at some point halted the rollout of OxygenOS 10 "due to certain bugs". The good news is that it's now back, this time rolling out as OxygenOS 10.0.1. The update brings with it everything Google packed into Android 10, of course, as well as a brand new UI design, and Google's new full screen gesture system where you swipe from the left or right to go back and get a thin bottom... |
Google Pixel 4 leaks on UK retailer's site, confirming three color options Posted: 14 Oct 2019 04:30 PM PDT The Google Pixel 4 and 4 XL are going to be announced tomorrow at a Google Hardware event in New York City. We've seen pretty much all the specs and features of the new phone leak unofficially, so there isn't much left to reveal. If anything, the latest leak confirms Google is launching the Pixel 4 in three colors. UK retailer Carphone Warehouse has already listed its Pixel 4 landing page, complete with specs, color options, and feature posters. We've already seen the specs leak from Best Buy Canada, but that page didn't include the color options. At the time of this writing, Best Buy's... |
Oppo working on under-display sensors for supposed quad-curve 3D waterfall' display Posted: 14 Oct 2019 02:38 PM PDT Smartphone innovation has been at an all-time high in the past couple of years with new designs akin to the pop-up camera, under-display fingerprint technology, and waterfall displays we're already seeing. The latest patents filed by Oppo suggest we could see a display that's curved at all edges. This could be possible thanks to another technology that Oppo has also patented: placing sensors under the display. Mockup render by LetsGoDigital The patents outline a light sensor and another infrared light sensor, both of which could function from below the display. This would... |
