Apple iPhone 11 event - what to expect Posted: 09 Sep 2019 08:00 AM PDT Apple will unveil the next generation iPhones this week - tomorrow, in fact. And it will be easier than ever to watch the show as it will be livestreamed on YouTube (previously, you needed an Apple device or Microsoft Edge). Since there have been numerous leaks about the new models, we have a pretty good idea what to expect - here's a recap of everything we (think we) know. First off, the three models themselves. Apple will release the iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max as the premium models. They will use OLED screens - 5.8" and 6.5", respectively, same as the XS models - and will feature... |
HTC's revenue goes up 67% in August Posted: 09 Sep 2019 07:00 AM PDT HTC financial situation has been pretty grim for the last few years but lately there have been some small signs of bouncing back. For August, for example, the Taiwanese tech company recorded 66.8% growth in revenue compared to July. HTC has made $23.5 million in revenue for August, which is a significant increase compared to the previous month. However, the revenue is still 47.1% down on yearly basis. Market analysts say that with the launch of VR-related products earlier this year like the Vive Pro Eye, Vive Focus, Vive Focus Plus and Vive Cosmos, the company will see its sales go... |
Huawei posts two Mate 30 teaser videos, hints at charging and camera improvements Posted: 09 Sep 2019 06:00 AM PDT Huawei posted two teaser videos for the upcoming Mate 30 models. They aim to keep the excitement high after the company unveiled the Kirin 990 and its 5G versions at IFA - those are the chipsets that will power the new flagships. The videos are filled with vague inspirational messages, based on the "Rethink possibilities" slogan. The most interesting part of the first video is the camera lens at the end, which has focal lengths listed as 20-35mm. We wouldn't read too much into that, however, as those don't match with the expected focal lengths of the cameras on the new phones. ... |
Pixel 4 photographed in three colors: Black, White and Coral Posted: 09 Sep 2019 05:00 AM PDT The Pixel 3 and 3A phones came in the standard Black and White versions, in addition to a more colorful hue - Not Pink and Purple-ish, respectively. We've already seen the upcoming Pixel 4 in black and in white, now check out the third color. It's an orange-ish hue - coral or salmon, perhaps? We're sure Google will have a suitable kooky name for it. It is a much bolder color than the third colors of the Pixel 3 and 3a. The front, however will be black on all models, including the white one. Pixel 4 in three colors A closer look at the Coral option Similarly, the square... |
Samsung Galaxy A50 update improves touchscreen performance Posted: 09 Sep 2019 04:00 AM PDT Samsung has started seeding an OTA update for the Galaxy A50 which enhances the performance of the touchscreen and improves the moisture detection algorithm. The latter was introduced by Samsung a long time ago and it monitors the USB port so you won't have any nasty surprises when you attempt to charge your phone. If the sensor detects moisture inside the connector, it would immediately stop charging. In addition, the stability of the Knox Guard has been improved, August security patch is applied and a few bugs have been squashed. The new firmware version is A505GNDXU3ASH4 and... |

It's a wireless charging standard supporting the unseen-on-a-smartphone 30W speed. A 5-layer nanocrystal receiver coil was used with a conversion efficiency of 98 percent, which should help keep temperatures under control too. The company claims that should be enough to take a flat 4,000mAh battery to 50% in just 25 minutes. A full charge on the same size is achieved in 69 minute. In comparison the previous best by Xiaomi - Mi 9, which went to 20W - only charged 30% of its 3,300mAh battery in... |

Top 10 trending phones of week 36 Posted: 08 Sep 2019 05:00 PM PDT It was certainly one of the most turbulent weeks in recent memory in our trending chart. Only the top three from last week remain and one of them barely hung up to the 10th spot. Impressively enough, the Redmi 8 Pro managed to retain its lead amid the drama, but the next phone to have been here last week is all the way down in seventh. Nokia 7.2 takes second, while another phone to come at IFA - Sony Xperia 5 - completes the podium. A trio of Apple iPhones follows - those are going official next week, but they are already getting people talking about them. In seventh we have... |
