Weekly poll: iPhone 11 family - hot or not Posted: 15 Sep 2019 07:00 AM PDT An iPhone launch is just one of those things that you really, really can't miss. Even if you are actually living under that proverbial rock that always gets brought up. Point here being that even if you don't particularly care about Apple's latest and greatest smartphones, these have become so interwoven into the tech realm and even beyond that the iPhone 11 family is just bound to have at least some effect on your life. Think about it. It's pretty eery in a more than a few ways, but also true. So then, seeing how the iPhone 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max are a fact of life in such a... |
Weekly poll results: ROG Phone II, Xperia 5 and Nokia 7.2 voted best at IFA2019 Posted: 15 Sep 2019 04:00 AM PDT IFA saw a pretty diverse and colorful set of phone announcement this year. Everyone seems to be working on a mostly separate agenda, or at leas different enough to make for some really stand-out devices. In this week's poll we asked you to pick favourites and its official, as far as flagships go the Asus ROG Phone II proved to be an over-achiever in yet another category - fan love. One of the best and most tricked-out smartphone on paper, the gaming monster already managed to pass our rigorous review process with flying colors. And now it's pretty clear that Asus stumbled upon or rather... |
Top 10 trending phones of week 37 Posted: 15 Sep 2019 01:00 AM PDT You don't need to look further than our trending chart to know what the event of the past week was. Apple introduced its latest smartphone trio - the 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max and it got everybody talking about it. The largest and most premium of the new phones leads from the compact 11 Pro with the vanilla 11 capturing third. The Redmi 8 Pro had to settle for fourth, while the Galaxy A50 managed to climb two spots to capture fifth. Nokia 7.2 is down to sixth, while the Galaxy A90 5G took seventh after another strong week. Sony Xperia 5 slips to eight, ahead of the returning... |
Flashback: iPhone 4, the phone that made Apple a camera and display powerhouse Posted: 14 Sep 2019 09:00 PM PDT Apple introduced the latest generation of its smartphones, iPhone 11, and it reminded us of one of its predecessors - the iPhone 4 introduced in early June 2010. Like the 11, this phone brought a change in Apple's naming scheme and design language and its best features were its camera and its display. The iPhone 3GS had a smoothly curved back made of glossy plastic. Jony Ive's design for the iPhone 4 called for an exposed aluminum frame sandwiched between two panes of strengthened glass - a recipe that has been copied by just about every phone maker since. The iPhone 4 introduced... |
LG might be getting back into tablets with the G Pad 5 Posted: 14 Sep 2019 05:30 PM PDT Straight off the bat, this is clearly an extremely odd leak. Not only has LG been out of the tablet game for over two years now, but the Snapdragon 821 chipset just seems too old to even be available at this point. That being said, references to the G Pad 5, as well as LM-T600 or code-name TF10 have been creeping up all over the place. The LM-T600L (or LMT600L) has received a radio certification by RRA in South Korea. More crucially, the same model number was also spotted in a recent kernel source code upload entry on LG's own servers. LMT600, LMT600L and LMT600US were originally... |
vivo TWS Earphone wireless buds leak with Qualcomm's new flagship wireless chip Posted: 14 Sep 2019 03:30 PM PDT Apparently vivo is planning an even busier week than we originally thought. Just to recap once again, the NEX 3 5G flagship is scheduled for a September 16 Shanghai unveiling. The V17 Pro will be announced on September 20 and the new Funtouch OS 9.1 is scheduled to drop on September 17. Turns out there is another vivo announcement in the pipeline as well - the TWS Earphone, which will be the Chinese company's take on an Apple AirPods truly wireless alternative. vivo TWS Earphone banners We know we probably lost a lot of you there, but these buds appear to be a bit different... |
Another Huawei Mate 30 case leak offers a closer look at the circular camera module Posted: 14 Sep 2019 01:00 PM PDT Yet another case leak for the upcoming Huawei Mate 30 (or perhaps it could be the Pro, we can't really say). To absolutely nobody's surprise, it features a circular camera cut-out on the back, alongside a thin vertical sliver. No surprises these, since we have already seen the same general layout on a number of other case leaks, as well as the recent very detailed CAD renders of the P30 Pro. Verizon's LG V30 starts receiving Android Pie update Posted: 14 Sep 2019 11:00 AM PDT LG rolled out the Android Pie update for the V30 in Europe back in July, and now, Verizon's V30 is also getting a taste of Android Pie. There's no official announcement about the rollout yet, but some V30 users on Verizon have already received the update, which weighs around 2.3GB in size. You can check out the screenshot below to see what the new firmware brings in. Now that Verizon has started seeding Android Pie for the V30, we expect other US carriers like T-Mobile and AT&T to commence the rollout of Pie shortly as well. Source 1, 2 | Via |
