Asus ROG Phone II to be the first phone to ship with the Snapdragon 855 Plus

Asus has announced that its upcoming ROG Phone II will be the first smartphone running Qualcomm's newly announced Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset. The new 855 Plus chipset is largely identical to the company's previous flagship, the Snapdragon 855, but features higher clocks, with the CPU now running at 2.96GHz instead of 2.84GHz. Qualcomm unveils Snapdragon 855 Plus with 15% faster GPU

Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset, which boast higher CPU and GPU clock speeds for enhanced performance. This is similar to the binned Snapdragon 845 that the Asus ROG Phone used, except that this new chip will be widely available to smartphone makers. In fact, Qualcomm expects to see the first phones with the 855 Plus by the end of the year. The big change is the GPU - the Adreno 640 is clocked higher and delivers 15% more performance. Samsung has begun issuing the latest software update for its midrange Galaxy A40 in Germany complete with the July security patch and more notably - Samsung Pay. The A405FNXXU2ASG1 update is currently in its early rollout stage so availability is limited, but it should expand to more countries soon. Huawei to ship 260 million phones in 2019, exceed expectations

Despite getting its Android license revoked back in May, Huawei will still exceed its smartphone sales targets for 2019. The Chinese maker was projected to ship 250 million phones during 2019 and analyst Guo Minghao expects it to ship around 260 million.
