Google Pixel 3a proves that plastic can be very durable

Posted: 28 May 2019 07:15 AM PDT

The latest phone to pass the JerryRigEverything's durability test is the Google Pixel 3a and it did so without breaking. The Dragon Tail glass covering the front performed just as well as any Gorilla Glass, scratching at a level 6. The phone also survived the bend test, despite appearing to flex a bit too much. Here's the full video. The Google Pixel 3a aims to bring Google's great software and remarkable camera to a record low starting price of €399. That's quite a deal, especially if you you haven't heard of (or don't trust) phones from Realme, Redmi, Honor and the likes. It...

The next iPhones could support streaming audio to two Bluetooth accessories at the same time

Posted: 27 May 2019 09:00 PM PDT

A new rumor today claims Apple is going to introduce yet another new feature when it launches this year's iPhones in the fall, and it's one that Samsung flagships have had since the Galaxy S8. Samsung calls it Dual Audio and what it does is easy: allow you to stream audio to two Bluetooth accessories at the same time. A lot of smartphones can connect to two accessories at the same time, but those accessories have to be using different Bluetooth profiles. So you can have two headphones connected, for example, but use one only for calls and one only for media. Apple is reportedly...

As they say - but wait, there's more! According to Blass' April tweet, a Motorola One Action was also in the pipeline, and today he updated the list to add the Motorola One Pro. HTC U11 finally starts receiving Android 9 Pie update

Posted: 27 May 2019 05:00 PM PDT

Earlier this month HTC shared some timelines for its Android 9 Pie updates, which have been very late - if you don't count the U11 Life's, and you shouldn't because that's part of the Android One program which handles things differently, with more control from Google over updates. HTC then promised to deliver the goods to the U11 first, by the end of this month. And here we are today, when the rollout has indeed started. The big caveat here is that the update to Pie for the U11 is currently only available in HTC's home market, namely Taiwan. We're hoping it will quickly spread to other...

Asus announces Zenfone 6 Edition 30 with 12GB of RAM, 512GB of storage

Posted: 27 May 2019 04:00 PM PDT

Given Asus' past antics, involving multiple variations of handsets that all had the same name, we were pretty surprised to learn that there's only one Zenfone 6 when it made its global debut a couple of weeks ago. If you too were rooting for another variant of the phone to become official, today the company has delivered. Meet the Asus Zenfone 6 Edition 30, just unveiled at Computex in Taiwan. To be fair, it's not just a differently specced version that will be sold under the same name, so Asus isn't actually going back to its old tropes. The name is longer because the point of this phone...

ByteDance, best-known for the TikTok video-sharing app, is reportedly looking to launch its own phone. It was a competing video-sharing platform that used short musical...

CEO posts Redmi K20 teaser video showing off the red color option

Posted: 27 May 2019 01:00 PM PDT

The Redmi K20 will be unveiled tomorrow and the brand is ramping up its teaser campaign. It started by posting an image of the red color and now CEO Lu Weibing has also shared the first teaser video for the phone (also of the red one, you can see the blue paint job here). This is just a teaser, we expect the full promo video to be a good deal longer. Still, this one does a great job of highlighting the special coating on the back, which creates reflections that seem to move as the light hits the phone at different angles. Note that this is the Redmi K20, not the K20 Pro (we expect...
