iPhone 14 Pro Max dummy shows the dual punch hole design on the front Posted: 14 Jul 2022 11:07 AM PDT Photos of iPhone 14 dummies are already making the rounds. Last week we saw the backs of the four models – two small and two big, two vanilla and two Pro – now it's time to have a closer look at the back. This appears to be an iPhone 14 Pro Max, judging by the size of the camera bump relative to the rest of the body. Again we're more interested in what is on the front (and what isn't). Samsung Galaxy M01 bumped up to Android 12, its last major update Posted: 14 Jul 2022 09:51 AM PDT Samsung has issued the Android 12 update for the Galaxy M01 entry-level smartphone from 2020. The firmware, M015GXXU4CVF6, brings the June 2022 security patch, and OneUI 4.0. Mind you, this isn't the full-featured OneUI you'd find on Samsung's more expensive smartphones, but it brings a big visual improvement over the ongoing Android 11 on the Galaxy M01. The update is live for Indian users at the moment. Other markets should get it in the following weeks. This is the last OS update for the Galaxy M01, which started life with Android 10 back in June of 2020. But Samsung will... |

Rumor: Xiaomi is also working on a phone with a 200MP sensor Posted: 14 Jul 2022 06:54 AM PDT Motorola isn't the only company working on a phone with a 200MP camera – Digital Chat Station reports that there is a phone on the way with a 200MP sensor, a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, a 120Hz display and a 5,000mAh battery. While the leakster was playing coy, some speculate that this is a Xiaomi phone, specifically the Redmi K50S Pro. Or it might be the Xiaomi 12T Pro instead (actually, those may be one and the same, just different names in different regions). The sensor will be either Samsung's ISOCELL HP1 or the ISOCELL HP3. Both have 200MP resolution, but the difference is in... |

Kuo: only the iPhone 15 Pro Max is getting a periscope lens Posted: 14 Jul 2022 02:38 AM PDT Apple may have had one of the first modern smartphones with a telephoto lens, but it will be one of the last to adopt a periscope style cam. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has refined some of the claims about Apple's first periscope – it is coming next year, but only to the iPhone 15 Pro Max (in other words, the smaller iPhone 15 Pro will stick to a classic tele lens). Kuo says that the periscope will have 6x magnification and a 12MP 1/3" sensor with sensor shift stabilization. Previous rumors claimed 5x magnification, but it is possible that the final number has not been nailed down (the iPhone 15... |

Poco F4 5G teardown ends with an average repairability score Posted: 13 Jul 2022 10:00 PM PDT In PBKReviews teardown video of the Poco F4 5G, the reviewer gave it a 5.5/10 score for repairability. The design of the device is not designed well with repairability in mind. While it isn't impossible to perform a screen replacement, it does require feeding the flex cable through the midframe, though – that's before applying adhesive. Opening the phone is much like any other: heat up the rear panel and pry around the perimeter to break the adhesive. The panel comes off without any snafus and the camera glass appears to be repairable as a separate piece from the back cover by breaking the... |

An announcement like that is not out of the ordinary in itself, but it is kind of odd that it came right in the middle of Samsung's public beta testing program for that software. This has been going on for a few weeks now, and today those who are part of the beta have received a new build on their... |
