Upcoming Realme phone gets specs and design revealed

Posted: 10 Jun 2021 01:03 AM PDT

The Realme RMX3366 has just been certified by Chinese regulator TENAA, and the smartphone's key specs and photos have been posted on its website. The listing reveals a phone that looks like an Oppo Reno5 series member at first, but that has its own distinct traits as you look closer. Realme RMX3366 The front of the RMX3366 has a 6.55" OLED with curved edges and likely one selfie camera. Given the lack of any visible fingerprint scanners, we're pretty confident the sensor is under the display. On the inside is a dual-cell battery, with one of the cells being 2,200 mAh,...

Posted: 09 Jun 2021 10:50 PM PDT

Samsung has just introduced its latest camera sensor targeted at smartphones - it is called ISOCELL JN1 and packs 50MP resolution. The size of a single pixel is just 0.64 μm, which is the smallest the Korean company has ever produced, while the entire sensor is 1/2.76" type. The sensor is made for "every smartphone, from mid-range to flagship". It has ISOCELL 2.0 for advanced pixel isolation and reducing cross-talk. In theory, it should improve light sensitivity and color fidelity with upgraded materials between color filters that don't let light from one pixel leak into the...

Huawei's HarmonyOS 2 already passes 10 million users

Posted: 09 Jun 2021 06:18 PM PDT

Huawei's new HarmonyOS 2 seems to be quite successful in China, as it's already passed 10 million users - aka active devices using it. To mark the momentous occasion, the company has decided to celebrate with a rather unique-looking cake, as you can see below. The TWS headphones, watch, phone, and TV are all edible elements making up the cake, by the way. While the uptake of the new brand is incredibly quick, it's important to note that HarmonyOS isn't one OS, in fact it seems to act more like an all-encompassing umbrella brand for all of Huawei's different operating systems as well...

Android 12 Beta 2 now rolling out to Pixel devices, brings new privacy features

Posted: 09 Jun 2021 03:39 PM PDT

Google released its first Android 12 Public Beta last month, and the second build is now on its way to participating Pixel users. This update brings some of the privacy features that were announced for the final release during the I/O presentation. I've installed the latest build on the Google Pixel 5 and can tell you that the UI visually looks better. There's more contrast throughout the interface. The huge volume slider from the first build has been updated to look more less ridiculous. We anticipate Google will continue tweaking the interface throughout Android 12's Beta...

The Realme C25s has a 48MP camera outside India

Posted: 09 Jun 2021 10:23 AM PDT

The Realme C25s was announced for the Indian market yesterday. It is coming to a few other countries as well, but there the phone will have a different main camera – 48MP instead of 13MP. So far we've spotted the upgraded model in Cambodia and Malaysia. This sort of inconsistency shouldn't come as a surprise anymore, the Realme C25 was the same way – 13MP main camera in India, 48MP elsewhere. Either way, the two phones are nearly identical except the "s" model gets the faster Helio G85 chipset instead of the G70. Anyway, the Realme C25s will cost MYR700 in Malaysia and $190 in...

Posted: 09 Jun 2021 08:17 AM PDT

Back in March Xiaomi promised to bring the Mi 11 series to India and while the Mi 11 Ultra did arrive in April, the more affordable members of the series have been MIA. That will change in a couple of weeks' time. The company tweeted that the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite will arrive on June 22 at 12 noon. It didn't specify which variant, so we assume this means the 4G version. There's a 5G model with some differences, the biggest of which is the Snapdragon 732G vs. 780G chipset. Anyway, we've already reviewed the Mi 11 Lite (4G) and even did a video on it if you want to learn more about the phone....
