Romania passes a bill that may block Huawei from developing its 5G network Posted: 20 Apr 2021 07:11 AM PDT Last week Romania passed a bill that may leave Huawei out of the country's development of the 5G network. It goes in line with the Washington memorandum in 2019 that would restrict any Huawei-Romania partnership in the future. The Romanian bill requires all vendors participating in 5G rollout must not be subject to control by a foreign government, have a transparent ownership structure, and be subject to a legal regime that enforces transparent corporate practices. The bill is yet to be approved by the parliament, which should happen in the next few weeks. Source |
Apple's Spring Event: what to expect Posted: 20 Apr 2021 06:23 AM PDT Spring is here and the Apples are ripe – we expect to see new iPads, Macs and accessories be unveiled at the virtual stage from Cupertino. All kinds of new gadgets except for new iPhones, of course, those are coming later this year. The iPads are interesting because they are expected to introduce a new type of display, mini-LED, which will later spread its way to other products (like MacBooks). They will also bring a new chip, a mobile version of the M1 (or at least something very similar to it). As for the Macs themselves, the latest scuttlebutt claims that Apple will launch a new... |

Apple also increased its sales by 44%, retaining second place, but Xiaomi in third posted an even bigger increase and... |

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 will be lighter, pack a Snapdragon 888 chipset Posted: 20 Apr 2021 03:37 AM PDT The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fol3 will be powered by the flagship Snapdragon 888 chipset, says IceUniverse, not a surprise considering that the new foldable is expected cost the same as the Fold2. Also, the cat says that the new model will be 13g lighter than the Z Fold2 (which tipped the scales at 282g). The weight reduction might come from the new Armor Frame, there are rumors that this will be the name of a titanium or carbon fiber frame (which are lighter than steel and even aluminum). Part of that could be the smaller battery (4,275 mAh, down from 4,500 mAh) and the smaller external... |

We're talking about the Galaxy Z Fold3 and the Galaxy Z Flip2 (or Flip3, as it has sometimes been rumored that Samsung would skip the number "2" in order to match the Flip generation with the Fold's). So far it's unknown exactly what specific IP rating the duo will get, but there will be one - at least if this rumor, seemingly based on "whispers from people in the... |

We are talking Oppo, Xiaomi, Samsung, and vivo. The downside is that MediaTek has secured the 4nm order from TSMC at a big cost - around $80 per unit compared to the current high-end 5nm chipsets that cost between $30 and $35. A famous Chinese tipster claims that MediaTek's hardware will be able to... |
Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra 5G in for review Posted: 19 Apr 2021 12:23 PM PDT The Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra may be the ultimate smartphone. Looking at it from all angles, we can't really see a flaw or shortcoming. Better yet, it's hard to see one phone matching the Mi 11 Ultra spec for spec, well, except maybe that other Ultra. But first thing's first - let's do an unboxing. Xiaomi ship the Mi 11 Ultra with a potent 67W charger that can top the phone up in under 40 minutes, a USB cable, 3.5mm to USB-C dongle and a case. The back of the phone is where things get really interesting. As far as camera islands go, this one is the daddy! It's huge and is able to... |

The timing of the Armor Frame patent seems to be in line with Samsung's plans to release its Galaxy Z Flip2 and Galaxy Z Fold3. They would surely benefit from the extra rigidness and lower weight. Then again,... |
