There's no doubt that the company is working on the successor but thanks to a reliable leakster, who is pretty accurate when it comes to OnePlus stuff, we now know what to look for. In a short tweet, Max J. revealed that the OnePlus 9 is codenamed "Lemonade". Actually, this codename has been thrown around lately but it's only now that we get some solid (sort of) confirmation about what exactly Lemonade means to OnePlus. Unfortunately, there... |

PlayStation 5 to offer per-game fan control with data collected from the APU Posted: 20 Oct 2020 01:38 AM PDT In a recent interview Sony's mechanical design chief responsible for the PS5's cooling system revealed an interesting bit about the console. It turns out it will offer per-game fan control, using data collected from AMD's APU on board and will eventually improve the cooling performance of the console over time. As games go out and people start playing them, the APU will start collecting data so no "one size fits all" type of fan curve will be used here. There are multiple temperature sensors placed all around the board to help collect the data. Moreover, Sony's engineers designed a... |

Some Google Pixel 5 owners report gap between the screen and frame Posted: 19 Oct 2020 09:10 PM PDT As first reported by Android Police, the Google Pixel 5 seems to be faced with an issue as the first wave of shipments arrive to customers. In some number of units, users have noticed a gap between the display and the frame. This raises concern for the product's IP68 water resistance rating. The issue seems to be affecting a small number of devices, though the number of reports appear to be steadily increasing over the last couple of days from both the Google Pixel forums as well as forums at XDA-Developers, as per the report. The gap has been spotted at various locations around the... |
A small number of Apple Watch SE owners in Korea have had them overheat Posted: 19 Oct 2020 06:58 PM PDT According to a Reddit thread, at least six South Korea-based owners of the recently released Apple Watch SE have reported overheating issues with their new Apple wearables. As reported by Apple Insider, the overheating issues stemmed from the same area: above the display connector, between the Taptic Engine and Digital Crown. This deduction was reached by analyzing teardowns of older Apple Watch models. Apparently, a sign of the impending incident is a yellow spot on the screen that affected users have spotted. Luckily for some, the watch overheated while on the charger,... |
Huawei’s Kirin 9000 to sport a 24-core GPU Posted: 19 Oct 2020 04:10 PM PDT Last week, Huawei's Kirin 9000 was scored on the popular AnTuTu benchmarking app where it scored neck-and-neck with the Exynos 1080. It scored notably better (287,000+) in GPU portions of the benchmark, which were ahead of both Qualcomm and Samsung's Exynos top performers. Today, well-known leaker @IceUniverse tweeted another benchmark scorecard, showing that Kirin 9000 is sporting a 24-core GPU. The leakster notes that the Mali G78 MP24 is clocked at lower frequencies to distribute the load and keep things power efficient. Kirin9000 GPU uses Mali G78 MP24, yes, 24, the highest... |
Another Huawei Mate 40 Pro teaser, this one's about ultrawide camera Posted: 19 Oct 2020 01:01 PM PDT The Huawei Mate 40-series are set to launch in just three days and the company is making sure the crowd is all hyped up with yet another teaser video. This one is pretty short and is all about the ultra-wide camera. The video shows a distorted scene with a plate, spoon and a fork but once the lens goes over the setup, everything straightens out. The video finishes with the phrase "The Mate Perfection". This likely hints at the distortion correction for the ultrawide lens. And perhaps. the Mate 40 or the Mate 40 Pro to be more precise will bring some novelties on that front. You can... |
LG won't be launching a Snapdragon 875 phone in the first half of 2021, report says Posted: 19 Oct 2020 11:39 AM PDT A new rumor from Hong Kong claims that LG will be abstaining from using Qualcomm's next flagship SoC, at least for the first half of next year. That's rather strange because when Qualcomm launches its best chipset in the beginning of each year, LG is one of the first to adopt it. But that won't be happening next year. A report from Korean media says that LG is missing from the list of OEMs that ordered the Snapdragon 875. Instead, the company will be focusing on a device powered by the still unannounced Snapdragon 775, again as per the orders for H1 2021. Source (In Chinese) |
