Weekly poll: which iPhone 12 model will have you opening your wallet? Posted: 18 Oct 2020 05:07 AM PDT Tuesday's event left us with mixed feelings – Apple knocked it out of the park while simultaneously dropping the ball. The non-Pro iPhones now have OLED screens, the Pro Max has major upgrades on all its cameras compared to its predecessor and the mini is perfect for those who want a tiny flagship. So, why does it feel like these phones are not as good as they should be? Yes, they have 5G, all of them, mmWave 5G at that – something that rumors said was too costly, too difficult to design, too power hungry. The mini is the thinnest, tiniest 5G phone yet. And its a proper mini too, it's... |
Flashback: iPhone 7 Plus added an extra camera, took away the 3.5mm jack Posted: 18 Oct 2020 01:31 AM PDT When Apple unveiled the iPhone 7 series in September of 2016 it proved to be a highly influential launch. There are two phones in the family, but we'll focus mostly on the iPhone 7 Plus because aside from being the larger phone, it is the first iPhone to feature a dual camera. The main 12MP camera was improved with the use of a brighter lens, f/1.8 versus f/2.2 on the iPhone 6s models. Apple also doubled the number of LEDs in the flash to four, making it 50% brighter compared to the old models. A new sensor detected flickering lights and compensated for that in videos and... |
Weekly poll results: the Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro is the favorite child, Mi 10T Lite has potential too Posted: 17 Oct 2020 10:01 PM PDT Last week's poll shows that the Mi 10T trio may as well consist of just a single phone – the Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro. The 108MP camera with OIS is the linchpin of the Pro as it is essentially the only difference between it and the vanilla Mi 10T. And the Xiaomi Mi 10T rated poorly, very poorly indeed, ending up on the bottom of the first poll with just under 15% of the votes. To put that into perspective, the Poco F2 Pro scored nearly 20%. And it's not like the 10T has some rickety camera, the 64MP sensor should be quite capable, even after losing OIS and getting saddled with a darker... |
Posted: 17 Oct 2020 06:33 PM PDT The futuristic Amazfit X wearable with its curved screen doesn't stand unchallanged. Today we welcome the nubia Watch that has a panel stretching even further in both directions. It arrived on sale earlier this month for $219/€219/£189 and is available in over 40 markets. Here are our initial impressions of the wearable before going all-in with the full review. The smartwatch looks rather unique - at first, it looks like it can bend at will but the curves are actually fixed so fit will vary from user to user. The appearance of the nubia watch is also puzzling. We can say the... |

Specifications of Micromax's "in" series smartphones surface Posted: 17 Oct 2020 10:10 AM PDT Micromax yesterday announced it will return to the smartphone market with the new "in" series of handsets, without divulging any details about them. A new report today claims the "in" series will include two models to start with (or three, depending on how you look at it) - one powered by the Helio G85 chipset, the other (or more like the other two) - by the Helio G35. They will be priced between INR7,000 ($95/€80) and 15,000 ($205/€175). There's no info about the G85 model, but there is some about the G35 one. It will run stock Android, pack a 5,000 mAh battery, and have two memory... |
