Sony Xperia 5 II goes on pre-order in Europe bundled with headphones Posted: 01 Oct 2020 07:37 AM PDT Sony's Xperia 5 II is now up for pre-order across Europe and there's some nice freebies in each market. The phone sells for the equivalent of €899/£799 in most countries and official sales tip-off on October 19. Germany, France, Italy, Spain and Greece all get the Sony WF-1000XM3 TWS noise-canceling earphones. Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden score last year's Sony WH-1000XM3 over-ear noise-canceling headphones. All those markets also get to choose between black, blue and grey colors for the phone itself while the earphones come in a single black color. UK fans get Sony's... |
The Microsoft Surface Duo found impossible to repair Posted: 01 Oct 2020 06:48 AM PDT The Microsoft Surface Duo is pretty unique – while it's not the only dual screen phone on the market, it's the only one to measure 9.9 mm when closed (meaning each half is only about 4.8 mm thick). Designing such slim hardware was challenging and required a lot of trade-offs as Zack from JerryRigEverything found out. We don't want to spoil the ending of the video for you, but it's not a happy one. The Duo is basically impossible to repair as everything is aggressively glued down and covered in graphite tape, which rips as components are removed. The hinge is pretty interesting,... |

Much like last year the roomier versions of that one will feature 128GB and 256GB capacities. The affordable iPhone 12 will come in a total of six colors including black, white, blue, red, yellow and coral. The iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max will arrive in 128/256/512GB storage variants and will be limited to black, white and silver colors. Apple is expected to hold its iPhone 12 announcement on October 13. The first batch... |

It is also expected in "select European markets" but before that, the US company will launch it in India. The availability and pricing will be detailed on Monday, October 5, at 12 PM IST and the phone will be available on Flipkart. The Razr 5G is an update over the Razr 2019 with a new 5G-enabled chipset, more RAM and storage, while keeping the same display. The OnePlus 8T will be taller, wider than the OnePlus 8 despite having the same screen size Posted: 01 Oct 2020 03:29 AM PDT The OnePlus 8T will have a 6.55" display – the same size as its non-T predecessor. However, it seems that the phone itself will be larger than before. @OnLeaks posted the dimensions of the device – 162.8 x 75.5 x 8.4 mm, going up to 9.3 mm for the camera hump. Previously, the leakster shared renders of the 8T. We've prepared a simple schematic to show the relative sizes of the T-phone and the original 8-series (including the thickness - the 8T is almost as thick as the 8 Pro). Note that this year there will be no T Pro model, instead the 8T is getting multiple upgrades like 120 Hz... |
EU's Digital Service Act will force makers to allow you to uninstall bloatware Posted: 01 Oct 2020 02:33 AM PDT The European Union is expected to approve a new so-called Digital Service Act, which among other things, aims to give you more control of what apps you have on your phone. While the pre-loaded bloatware isn't as bad in Europe as in some other parts of the world it can still be annoying. So the EU will force makers to making it possible to uninstall all of the unwanted apps. Currently some of the apps can't be removed unless you flash a different ROM. Additionally, the act targets big companies like Google and Apple making sure that they use the collected data only for advertising... |

Looks alone will tell you it shares plenty of similarities with the Oppo F17 Pro and Reno4 Lite and a quick dive through the specs reveals the only change is the downgraded 18W charging. The Oppo A93 is built around a 6.43-inch AMOLED with a pill-shaped cutout for the 16MP selfie cam and 2MP depth module. There's also a built-in fingerprint scanner. Around the back, we have a 48MP primary shooter alongside an 8MP ultrawide snapper. The remaining two are a pair of... |
Soli Radar and Motion Sense will make a comeback despite missing on Pixel 5 Posted: 01 Oct 2020 12:52 AM PDT The Pixel 4 and 4 XL launched by Google last year came with the Soli Radar that enabled Motion Sense gestures. However, none of this year's Pixels have them, suggesting that the company may have abandoned the project. That's not the case, according to Google's SVP of Hardware Rick Osterloh, who says Soli Radar and Motion Sense will return in the future. In a statement to The Verge, Osterloh said Soli Radar and Motion Sense gestures will be used in the future, and they are missing from the 2020 Pixels because they were too expensive for the phones Google wanted to build. While... |
Google expects to sell only 800,000 Pixel 5 units this year Posted: 30 Sep 2020 11:52 PM PDT Yesterday Google introduced two new phones, Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G, both falling short of the term "true flagship" with the lack of top-notch chipset, telephoto camera and an UD fingerprint scanner. Apparently, the Mountain View company doesn't expect the phones to be particularly hot with customers as indicated by the conservative orders placed with suppliers - 800,000 Pixel 5 units by the end of the year, as reported by Nikkei Asia. The total production for the 2020 Google lineup across its three members - the Pixel 5, Pixel 4a 5G, and the Pixel 4a - will be 3 million units.... |

Google's official account revealed the release date and confirmed that the Pixel 4a will be sold through Flipkart. Its price wasn't confirmed, so we'll have to wait until October 17 for that. New camera features coming to the Google Pixel 5 Posted: 30 Sep 2020 09:35 PM PDT Google's Pixel 5 doesn't bring any major changes to the camera hardware. The 2X telephoto camera from the Pixel 4 has been replaced with a new 16MP ultra wide camera with f/2.2 aperture and 1ยตm pixels. Meanwhile, the main camera remains unchanged from the Pixel 4. It's a 12.2MP 1/2.55" sensor with f/1.7 aperture, Dual Pixel AF, and OIS. We don't yet know how much the image quality can improved solely based on software advancements as we don't yet have the device. Until then, let's go over the camera features that are debuting with the Google Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G (they have identical... |
Google TV is the Android TV skin for the new Google Chromecast Posted: 30 Sep 2020 08:25 PM PDT With the announcement of Google's new Chromecast device today, "Google TV" is debuting with the new hardware. "Google TV" was Google's first smart TV platform that was co-developed with Sony, Qualcomm, Google, and Logitech that first launched back in 2010. It was an OS for TVs that offered support for streaming apps, and as a core TV operating system. The platform would eventually be succeeded by "Android TV" until this day. The new Google TV is still based on Android TV, but it's a UI skin that's unique to the new Google Chromecast for now, though Google did say that it would be adding... |
