Flashback: Nokia's first cameraphone was also the first Symbian S60 smartphone Posted: 13 Sep 2020 05:29 AM PDT Nokia is probably best remembered through its camera phones – Lumia 1020, 808 PureView, N8 and others still carry a spark of nostalgia for long-time fans. But it all started with the Nokia 7650, the first model from the Finnish company to have an integrated digital camera. It shot 640 x 480 px stills, which were recorded to the internal 4MB of memory. Before taking a photo, you had to slide open the keyboard as the lens normally sat protected behind the slider. This ruined the sleek (for the time) form factor somewhat, but the novelty of it was undeniable. The 7650 had an advantage... |
Weekly poll: is the Poco X3 NFC great value for money? Posted: 13 Sep 2020 02:01 AM PDT The Poco X3 NFC, the second mid-range phone in the family, is here and it brings incremental improvements over the X2. The Snapdragon 732G chipsetmakes its debut with the X3, and while nothing really stands out in the spec sheet, that is not exactly a criticism – this phone launched at just €200. This was an early bird special that ended on Friday, but the regular price of €230 (for the 6/64 GB model, €270 for 6/128 GB) is pleasantly low as well. That's about on par with X2's price when it launched, so let's see what has changed between then and now. The screen is as before, 6.67" LCD... |

Weekly poll results: Realme 7 Pro causes some excitement, overshadows Realme 7 Posted: 12 Sep 2020 10:42 PM PDT The Realme 7 Pro handily defeated its vanilla sibling in last week's poll, however its success is anything but certain. Still, it received more than twice as many votes in favor as the Realme 7, making it the clear favorite. Realme 7 • Realme 7 Pro That said, people in the comments believe that the smart thing to do is grab a Realme 6 Pro, the model from earlier this year. Comparing 7 Pro vs. 6 Pro shows that the older phone has a larger 90Hz display (but LCD instead of OLED), the same S720G chipset, similar rear camera but with a 2x telephoto lens, an ultra wide lens on the front... |
Tecno Camon 16 Premier in for review Posted: 12 Sep 2020 07:13 PM PDT Tecno is hardly the most recognizable name in the global smartphone market, but in certain regions it's among the biggest players. That's why its latest flagship, Tecno Camon 16 Premier, is enjoying quite some interest and we felt a review is in order. The Camon lineup is the camera-oriented family in the Tecno portfolio. The Camon 16 Premier is the mightiest device of new series with unusual camera setup design - an extremely big rectangle, with four cameras and one LED aligned as one big plus. The phone looks similar to the Infinix Zero 8, another regional star, and that's no... |
LG Wing leaks in live shots, with first look at its special UI Posted: 12 Sep 2020 03:00 PM PDT LG's upcoming Wing has been a massive attention-grabber lately, for what are pretty obvious reasons. The design is rather "out there". So much so, that's we'll take any opportunity to have a closer look at it. That's precisely what a pair of new live photos offers – a running LG Wing unit, placed next to the Samsung Galaxy Note20. Left to right: Samsung, LG Wing* LG Wing, Samsung The unfortunate angles of both shots make it a bit hard to judge dimensions properly. However, the LG Wing does appear to be slightly taller than the Note20, which, for the record, measures - 161.6 x... |
India pricing, availability and special repair offer for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 get detailed Posted: 12 Sep 2020 01:00 PM PDT It has been almost two weeks now since Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold2. Pricing and pre-orders for the cutting-edge foldable flagship were quick to follow. However, official info for the India market was notably absent. Technically, it still is, but industry-insider sources claim to have the scoop. If you accidentally damage your Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 (Physical, Liquid, whatever) once within a year. You will have to pay just Rs. 10,999 for the repair. https://t.co/NS1fKz6dGO— Ishan Agarwal (@ishanagarwal24) September 12, 2020 The Z Fold2 will retail for INR 1,49,999, which,... |
Samsung Galaxy S20 FE bags NBTC certification Posted: 12 Sep 2020 10:30 AM PDT We've been hearing about the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE (aka S20 Fan Edition) for quite some time now, and while we do have a pretty good idea of what to expect from the smartphone, it's still unclear when exactly Samsung will make the S20 FE official. Rumors have it that Galaxy S20 FE will arrive in October. It has also been certified by a few authorities already, with the latest one being Thailand's NBTC, which takes it a step closer to the launch. There's no word from Samsung about the Galaxy S20 FE yet, but previous leaks have revealed its design and specs, which include a 6.5",... |
OnePlus put up guide pages for a few unannounced devices, including an 8T Pro Posted: 12 Sep 2020 08:30 AM PDT Straight off the bat, we should preface this by saying that leaked pages are hardly concrete info. Take them with a pinch of salt. What we have here are basically a few URLs that are found to be active on the official OnePlus domain. That is to say that then lead to pages. Said pages are generic versions of phone "guides" that offer practically no information. The telling bits here are the addresses, themselves. We have a total of five pages, some more descriptive than others, like one for the OnePlus 8T and one for the 8T Pro. Followed by two Nord devices – N100 and N105g and finally a... |
