AMD unveils Ryzen 4000G desktop APUs, but they are only for OEMs for now

AMD's desktop APUs lagged behind the mobile offerings and were still using Zen+ cores. That is changing as of today with the announcement of the Ryzen 4000G series, which upgrade to the 7 nm Zen 2 chiplets that we've seen in the new mobile APUs. The CPUs range from quad-core setups to octa-core, all with hyper threading. Note that for each Ryzen 4000G APU there is a "GE" version that has a 35 W TDP instead of 65 W (at the cost of reduced base and turbo clock speeds, of course). The Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra passed through the FCC and confirmed some suspicions that the rumor mill had. The chipset is explicitly listed as Qualcomm SM8250 – that's Snapdragon 865, likely the "plus" variant – and the modem is an X55. This enables not only sub-6 GHz 5G but also mmWave. Through its official Weibo account, Realme teased an entirely new smartphone lineup. And while the timing is very close to the confirmation of Realme's IFA event it seems like the new family of smartphones will be exclusive to China.
