| Honor X10 5G photos from Everest shared before phone's announcement, Honor 30 Pro+ shots too Posted: 08 May 2020 06:44 AM PDT A few days ago China sent a survey team to study Mt. Everest, today they reached the Advanced Base Camp at 6,500m (21,300ft). What's interesting about this expedition (besides the scientific work that it will do) is that two photographers, Li Pu and Cai Qing, used two Honor phones to capture some beautiful shots. One of these was the Honor X10 5G, which hasn't been officially announced yet (so these are the first official camera samples from the phone). The five shots have 10MP resolution, since pixel binning was used - the X10 will feature a custom Sony IMX600ysensor with 40MP raw... |

| CEO shares Realme X3 SuperZoom photo, confirms 60x zoom Posted: 08 May 2020 04:22 AM PDT CEO Madhav Sheth officially confirmed that the Realme X3 SuperZoom is coming - and that it will have a 60x zoom camera. He shared a photo of the Milky Way taken with the phone's Starry Mode and challenges you to try and get a better shot with your current phone. So, this is clearly a periscope camera that we're talking about, likely with 6x optical zoom. Of course, the 60x magnification is achieved with digital processing, but astro-photography relies on a lot of computational skills anyway (astronomers have been doing image stacking for years before phones started doing it). The shared... |

Spec-wise the two are nearly identical with the Pro featuring better auxiliary cameras, wireless charging and faster RAM. | MIUI 12 to go global on May 19 Posted: 08 May 2020 02:07 AM PDT MIUI 12 officially announced in late April alongside the Mi 10 Youth smartphone. It was initially introduced to the Chinese audience, but now Xiaomi has scheduled a global launch which will take place on May 19. The date was revealed by the Twitter account of MIUI with a cheeky teaser - there was a math problem that is apparently still trending around the marketing office of Xiaomi. The answer is obviously 19, even if Xiaomi has decided to use two different pictures for the very same number, which is a common mistake third-grade students make in math class. The date might be... |
| Android 10 rolling out to Xperia 10 and 10 Plus Posted: 08 May 2020 01:18 AM PDT Sony's Xperia 10 and 10 Plus were the midrange counterparts to last year's flagship Xperia 1. Sony did promise an update to Android 10 in "early 2020" but the two midrangers had to wait a bit longer to finally get the latest Google firmware update. With the COVID-19 outbreak disrupting most companies' regular operations the delay is understandable and the good thing is the latest Android version is finally hitting the duo. For the time being, the rollout is limited to select regions and carriers. It bears the 53.1.A.2.2 build number and also adds the March security... |

The image also confirms... |

It was supposed to go on sale in the country from April 2, but the sales were delayed multiple times due to the nation-wide lockdown imposed by the Indian government to curb the spread of COVID-19. It is priced at INR124,999 ($1,655/1,525) and can be purchased from Flipkart in Noir Black... |

| Realme X3 SuperZoom to sport periscope camera offering up to 60x magnification Posted: 07 May 2020 06:12 PM PDT Realme is working on a bunch of new devices at the moment, but perhaps none is more interesting than the X3 SuperZoom. This phone has already received a few certifications here and there, and thanks to a benchmark run it's been revealed to sport last year's Snapdragon 855+ chipset along with 12GB of RAM. Today a new rumor shines some light over the choice of name. A leakster on Twitter claims the SuperZoom will go up to 60x, which is clearly digital only, but here's the thing - that means that this phone will have a periscope zoom camera. These have up until recently been confined to... |
| Discover app by Facebook finds free data from carriers in Peru Posted: 07 May 2020 04:09 PM PDT Facebook has a new app called Discover, and its part of a new "Free Basics Initiative" that offers wireless subscribers a free, but limited, amount of data per day. This data can only be used for "low-bandwidth traffic data", mostly browsing on websites. The point of this free data is for users to be able to keep connected even after their data salary runs out. In Peru, where the Discover app is initially available, most mobile users pay for data and minutes on a pay-as-you-go basis. Although data and plans are relatively cheap, there are many rural areas of Peru where income is more... |
| Android 10 finally reaches the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Posted: 07 May 2020 02:08 PM PDT Xiaomi's Mi Note 10 launched last November sporting the world's first 108 MP camera on a smartphone, as well as one of the most flexible setups at the time, with two telephoto shooters alongside it and an ultrawide and a macro cam. The phone has been doing quite well, sales-wise, and even got a lesser sibling recently in the form of the Mi Note 10 Lite. One thing that it hasn't so far received is an update to Android 10, which is weird because a lot of other (even older) Xiaomi devices have. Well, the wait is finally almost over for the Mi Note 10, as today the Chinese company has started... |
| Google Lens can now speak the text you scanned, copy it to your computer Posted: 07 May 2020 11:10 AM PDT Spending extra time at home gave us a great opportunity to pick up a new language, but since we didn't, we're glad to see the new features Google added to Lens. The app can help you practice your pronunciation - just scan some text with the camera and hit "Listen". This works with single words and even full paragraphs. Sometimes we run into things we don't understand, even if they are in plain English. Now you can select a word or concept and do a Google search with a single tap. As usual, this brings up helpful results from Wikipedia and other sites, videos too. If... |
