Weekly poll: Are you buying an Apple iPhone SE (2020)? Posted: 26 Apr 2020 06:01 AM PDT The Apple iPhone SE (2020) is now on sale in more than 40 countries and we'd like to know if you plan or getting one (or perhaps you already did). You could knock Apple for refurbishing a phone from 2017, with a design from 2014, but the iPhone SE (2020) is the cheapest iPhone around and that means it will likely do well in the market. You could look at the iPhone SE (2020) in a number of ways. It's the most powerful small phone you could buy. And it's the cheapest phone with flagship chipset you can buy in most countries. At the starting price of $399 in the US, 479 in...
Hot take: Motorola Edge and Edge+ Posted: 26 Apr 2020 02:52 AM PDT This week brought us the Motorola Edge and Edge+ and with them the return of Motorola to the flagship market. The two phones carry hefty expectations on their shoulders as ambassadors of sorts, so they'll be closely monitored by everybody in the tech industry. Here are a few early observations on them that we have. Back in the major league It started with the unveiling of the Razr 2019, but that ine being a nostalgia-infused tech showcase couldn't exactly be taken very seriously as an indicator for the company's future intents. Well, the Edge+ definitely can. It lives up to 2020...

To make sure you haven't missed any of them here's a quick summary. Oppo was one of the two most active makers, unveiling 4 new phones - in ascending price order those are the A12, A52 and A72 as well as the Find X2 Lite. nubia followed with the announcement of the nubia Play - one of the cheapest 5G phones around and it comes with a 144Hz display too. Arguably the most exciting event of the... |
Weekly poll results: OnePlus 8 Pro fate to be decided by reviews, non-Pro written off Posted: 25 Apr 2020 08:31 PM PDT Voters in last week's poll did not go easy on the new OnePlus duo - the two phones were left in the shadow of the 7T generation. However, many in the comments pointed that the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro are actually the successors of the 7 and 7 Pro rather than the T-series. And that does make some amount of sense and puts the phones in a better light, but is the OnePlus fanbase really the type to upgrade every year? There certainly is a group of people that do get a new OnePlus every year, but it sounds like they will be waiting for the OnePlus 8T series. They should certainly wait at least...
Posted: 25 Apr 2020 05:22 PM PDT Now that we've covered the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro in detail in our review, it's time to take a look at its more affordable counterpart - the Mi 10. First, an unboxing. The Xiaomi Mi 10 5G comes bundled with a 30W charger, USB-C cable, a silicone case, and a USB-C to 3.5mm adapter. Before we talk differences between the Mi 10 and the Mi 10 Pro, let's look at the similarities. The Xiaomi Mi 10 5G comes with the same 90Hz 6.67-inch Super AMOLED, the same Snapdragon 865 chipset, the same 108MP main camera and the same amenities like wireless charging, and quality stereo speakers. The...
iPhone SE works with iPhone 8's camera swapped in, new teardown shows Posted: 25 Apr 2020 12:50 PM PDT The iPhone SE of 2020 is a resurrected iPhone 8, that's self-evident. But what are the implications of that fact in terms of reusing the old model for spare parts? We had one teardown of the SE from yesterday, but a new one we have here is helpful in a different way - in its premise, but also because it's in English, which we're slightly more fluent in than Chinese. So yes, dismantling the SE is business as usual, requires removal of the two screws on the bottom and some light heat gun action before the pry tools come into play. Inside, the layout is identical to the 8's, as already...

HTC Desire 20 Pro reportedly in the works, spotted on GeekBench too Posted: 25 Apr 2020 10:35 AM PDT HTC is working on a new smartphone, what year is it? An insider by the name of @LlabTooFeR with historically reliable intel on HTC devices has shared some bits on the matter. The smartphone has a code name Bayamo but will be called Desire 20 Pro for commercial purposes. It will resemble the Xiaomi Mi 10 from the back and we're reading that as having a top left corner camera cluster, with a separate module outside the bunch. On the front, it'll look like the OnePlus 8, so pretty much like any other phone then? Oh, it'll also have a 3.5mm headphone jack, yay! The last HTC phone...
