This process also adds the visual effects of smoke and soft mist to the back panel, in addition to a "delicate and tactile" feel. The Rainbow Shadow variant of the... |

| Ulefone Armor X7 gets hammered and knifed in video display durability test Posted: 13 Apr 2020 06:00 PM PDT The Ulefone Armor X7 came out last month to take the world by storm with its rugged credentials. The phone may not look very modern (or at all), may not have high-end specs (quite the contrary, in fact), but none of that matters. Because its main claim to fame is just how rugged it is. The Armor X7 is IP68/IP69K water and dust resistant, MIL-STD-810G compliant, and can survive drops to solid concrete from up to 1.2m. But what about its screen? How much can it endure before it gives in? Thankfully, Ulefone itself decided that the world needed to know, so it made a new promo video... |

| Huawei P40 lite disassembled on video, proves easy to take apart Posted: 13 Apr 2020 02:06 PM PDT The Huawei P40 lite stars in the following disassembly video, which gives us a glimpse at what's going on inside the phone. It starts with removing the plastic back cover and unscrewing 18 Phillips screws. Honor used thermal paste to transfer heat from the motherboard to the metal frame of the phone, which should help the Kirin 810 chipset stay cool. Thermal paste is used on some of the other chips to connect them to their metal shields, which also helps heat dissipation. Interestingly, there are rubber gaskets around the USB-C port and the 3.5mm headphone jack, even though the Huawei... |

First, the issue with wind noise (which was quite loud... |
| Huawei Mate Xs is a unsurprisingly hard to repair, iFixit says Posted: 13 Apr 2020 12:21 PM PDT iFixit completed a full teardown of the the Huawei Mate Xs. The second generation foldable device with outwards folding display unsurprisingly proved very hard to take apart. The phone itself is super complicated and it's hard to repair. iFixit says that the batteries (the battery is split in two) are the most difficult part since they are glued and hard to remove. On the other hand, the display assembly is a big improvement over the original Mate X and looks more durable in the long run. The new design provides better protection against dust and the disassembly specialists... |
