| Apple doubles the storage on the Mac mini Posted: 18 Mar 2020 07:42 AM PDT Apple today announced that it is doubling the storage on the Mac mini. The computer now comes with 256GB for the base $799 configuration while the $1,099 model comes with 512GB. And that's basically it. To say that Apple announced this would be a bit of an understatement. The news about the Mac mini was basically a footnote to the MacBook Air announcement. And that makes sense, when you consider there's not much here to talk about. But the fact that even in 2020, the Mac mini still comes with outdated eight-generation Intel chips with 8GB of memory is laughable and the doubling... |

Both cameras can do 4K video up to... |
| Apple refreshes MacBook Air with quad-core CPUs, scissor keyboard and lower price Posted: 18 Mar 2020 06:35 AM PDT We love it when things get both cheaper and better - and the new Apple MacBook Air did just that. This is the first generation of Air to offer quad-core processors, the base model gets more storage, costs less and the dreaded butterfly keyboard is gone. Apple's ultrabook now starts at $1,000, $200 down from the 2018 model. That buys you 10th generation Intel Core i3 (dual-core) with 1.1GHz base frequency and 3.2GHz Turbo Boost. And you get double the storage, the SSDs now start at 256GB (and go up to 2TB). It has a 49.9Wh built-in battery that's good for up to 11 hours of... |
| Oppo Find X2 Pro is the company's first phone to get the YouTube Signature Devices distinction Posted: 18 Mar 2020 05:41 AM PDT The Find X2 Pro just became the first Oppo phone to be inducted into the YouTube Signature Devices hall of fame. The company calibrates the displays at the factory for superior color accuracy. Thanks to that and other features, DisplayMate rated the 6.7" HDR-capable AMOLED panel an A+ and now YouTube has recognized Oppo's work too. YouTube launched the Signature Devices program in 2018 and it's about more than just HDR (though that's a part of it). The requirements were updated in 2019, asking that the phone supports playback of high frame rate video (above 60fps). 360° videos must also be... |

The main differences come in the imaging department. The M31 comes with a quad camera setup comprising 64MP main, 8MP ultrawide, 5MP macro and 5MP depth sensor units, while the M21 sports a triple camera which is a combination of 48MP main, 8MP ultrawide, and 5MP depth modules. It seems that the glass and ceramic versions of the Find X2, both have been listed with lower than actual weight on the product page. The glass Find X2 has been listed with a weight of 187g while it's actually 192g while the discrepancy between the actual and listed weight of the ceramic version is even higher - 196g versus 209g. The Find X2 Pro ceramic version was also listed with about 10 grams lower weight. It doesn't seem like a big deal... |

The picture shows us the bottom of the S6 5G, which houses a USB-C port that's flanked by a speaker grille, microphone and a SIM card slot. There's no 3.5mm headphone jack here, meaning it's either located on the top or vivo decided to skip it. There's not much to glean from the image, but we now know the S6 5G will come in a blue-purple gradient. However, there will likely be more colorways available than the one we are... |

The devices are identified as d5x, which points to the iPhone 12 series because 2019's iPhone lineup has been identified as d4x in iOS 13 code. The information that the iPhone 12 won't get a 3D sensor has been rumored for awhile, but is now unofficially confirmed. A Time of Flight sensor will change the way the iPhone camera does portrait mode and... |

At first, the stores were supposed to remain closed until March 27, but the company has now changed the announcement on its website saying that they will stay closed "until further notice". Interestingly, the FAQ page still says March 27 so the indefinite closure of the stores might not necessarily mean expansion of the lockdown. One thing's for sure, though - Apple's online store is still working and it's accepting orders. So if you are in the market for an Apple... |
