Weekly poll: is the Poco X2 the phone you were hoping for?

Posted: 09 Feb 2020 06:00 AM PST

Poco is not a one-hit brand - it unveiled its second phone just this week. After a year and a half of lying dormant, it lifted the veil off the Poco X2. Sure, it's a rebadged Redmi K30, but it remains true to the brand's core value of offering insane value for money. The phone will be available in India starting on February 11 for just INR 16,000 - $225/€205. That's for 64GB storage, but 128GB is only INR 1,000 ($15/€13) more. This is relatively fast UFS 2.1 storage we're talking about here and unlike many other phones, this one has a microSD slot. That's a jaw-dropping price,...

Weekly poll results: phones with 90Hz and 120Hz screens will be in high demand this year

Posted: 09 Feb 2020 03:00 AM PST

One in three people think that a 60Hz refresh rate is good enough for phones and the reason is simple - battery life. However, most of the people who voted in last week's poll are looking to upgrade to a phone with a high refresh rate screen. Most agree that 90Hz should be the minimum for mid-rangers and flagships. However, nearly as many people voted for the 120Hz option. It's more taxing, sure, but it's not unreasonable. The Redmi K30 scored an impressive 101 hour Endurance rating in 120Hz mode, down from 114h in 60Hz mode. And that's with a 4,500mAh battery, which isn't exactly...

Samsung Galaxy A71 in for review

Posted: 08 Feb 2020 11:45 PM PST

Now that we've gotten the Galaxy A51 out of the way (review here), it's time to take a look at the other new member of the hugely popular Galaxy A series - the Galaxy A71. The Galaxy A71 is the natural progression of one of the most popular phones of 2019 and the second most popular Galaxy A series device to date - the Galaxy A70. It retains what was already great about the Galaxy A70 - the big 6.7-inch Super AMOLED screen, the 4,500mAh battery with 25W fast charging - and adds better cameras, a faster processor and more modern design. And compared to the Samsung Galaxy...

New OnePlus 8 Pro leak reaffirms design and claims 120Hz display refresh rate

Posted: 08 Feb 2020 08:30 PM PST

The OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro are definitely on the horizon and in fact, approaching pretty fast. As per the latest industry insider info, we can expect to see the pair some tine in late March or in April. Basically, just as soon as the annual MWC storm cools down and the air is clear. A fresh new leak claims to have a render of the upcoming OnePlus 8 Pro, alongside a few specs points. Some of these pretty obvious and easy to deduce, while others rather interesting. Looking at the render first, since it ended up offering that last little convincing we needed to at least give this...

Honor 9X Lite promotional banner pops-up online

Posted: 08 Feb 2020 06:30 PM PST

It seems like Honor is preparing a Lite variant for it relatively popular 9X. Or, at the very least, that's what the text on a recently unearthed promotional banner suggests. Given the company's track record, we can't realistically say with any confidence that the Lite will be based off of its namesake sibling. The mysterious device does appear to sport a wider, rectangular camera module on its back, quite similar to the one brought about by the Honor V30 pair. That can, perhaps, be taken as a good sign of authenticity. Apparently, the X9 Lite will be taunted as an "XTRAORDINARY...

LG V60 ThinQ leaked images reveal quad camera, notched display and 5,000 mAh battery

Posted: 08 Feb 2020 04:30 PM PST

Last month we saw images of the back panel of the LG V60 ThinQ, which suggested the smartphone will feature quad rear cameras. Now we are looking at yet another image, shared by reliable leakster Evan Blass, which confirms the smartphone will indeed arrive with a quad camera. The picture also reveals that V60 ThinQ will sport a notched display since the selfie camera is placed in the center. Besides, it confirms that the smartphone will feature four microphones and pack a 5,000 mAh battery. But do note that the V60 ThinQ won't have a transparent back, which is what the image...

Amid all the Galaxy S20 hype, as we inch closer to the February 11 Unpacked launch event, it is kind of easy to forget about the Galaxy Buds+. Thanks to an earlier specs sheet leak, we pretty much have the whole scoop on this new 2020 model, which promises substantial battery life upgrades and better microphones, for only about $20 more, retail ($150). Frankly, that's plenty of preliminary information already. Yet, one reputable industry leakster also managed to get his hands on an actual pair of the Buds+. The end result is a brief unboxing video, complete with initial impressions and a...

New Oppo Reno3 Vitality is official with a Snapdragon 765, 48MP camera and new colors

Posted: 08 Feb 2020 10:30 AM PST

Apparently, Oppo decided that the Reno3 line could benefit from some restructuring, or extra saturation, depending on how you look at things, since the we have no indication that the current Reno3 or the Reno3 Pro are going anywhere. What we do know, is that there is now a Reno3 Vitality edition, officially up and gathering pre-orders on both jd.com and opposhop.cn. Just like earlier leaks suggested, the Vitality is essentially the vanilla Reno3 with some internals swapped and new colors. The first main change being a Snapdragon 765 chipset, in place of the Mediatek MT6885Z...
