| Samsung to enable 120Hz at QHD+ resolution for Galaxy S20 series Posted: 18 Feb 2020 07:34 AM PST One of the coolest bits about the new Samsung Galaxy S20 series is the 120Hz refresh rate of their displays. However at launch you will have to choose between 120Hz and QHD rendering as the mode was only available up to FullHD resolution. According to a new development, Samsung will bring the 120Hz@QHD mode via a firmware update. | The US wants TSMC to stop manufacturing chips for Huawei Posted: 18 Feb 2020 06:01 AM PST It seems like the Trump administration is doing everything it can to sabotage Huawei at this point and its latest plan is to make TSMC stop manufacturing chips for Huawei. How can they possibly do that since TSMC is based in Taiwan, you may ask? It's simple - TSMC uses US-made manufacturing equipment. A change in the US Department of Commerce's Foreign Direct Product Rule has been proposed that will make companies using US technology seek license to sell to Huawei. And as you know, TSMC is the company's main supplier for the Kirin chips. And if this comes through somehow, it would... |
| Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 to come with a new S Pen Posted: 18 Feb 2020 05:07 AM PST After yesterday's Galaxy Fold 2 juicy news, it's time for another portion of revealing a bit more about the design of the handset. According to a fairly reputable source, Samsung's upcoming successor of the Fold will incorporate one of Galaxy Note's iconic features - the S Pen. When you think about it, it does make a lot of sense. The Galaxy Fold 2 will reportedly open up to a 7.7-inch display, which is more than an inch bigger than the Galaxy Note10+, so it would be wasteful not to utilize that screen real estate with an S Pen functionality. Moreover, according to the leak, the S... |

The Mi 10 Pro now had its first sale, which lasted just 55 seconds. Like the vanilla Mi 10, the Pro variant also garnered over CNY200 million in its first sale, meaning the company sold between 33,300 to 40,000 units depending on their memory configuration. Xiaomi hasn't revealed when the Mi 10 Pro will go on sale again in China, but looking at the current situation in the country, the company is likely to face a shortage of the Mi 10 duo and it remains to be seen... |

| TCL concept phone has a slide-out screen, leaked images show Posted: 17 Feb 2020 07:00 PM PST Before MWC got canceled, TCL was going to have a presence there, and apparently one of the things it wanted to show the world was a concept of a smartphone with a slide-out screen. Yes - slide-out, not 'folding' in any way we've seen before. Images of this yet-unnamed device have surfaced today, and we're still left scratching our heads as to how this slide-out screen would actually work. As in - what happens when you slide the slidy bit back into the other part? Best guess right now is one portion of the flexible display bends or wraps behind the other, but how durable would... |
| Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra LTE version surfaces Posted: 17 Feb 2020 05:00 PM PST These are weird times for Samsung, with "glass" somehow scratching like plastic, and "5G only" smartphones having 4G LTE versions too. We're talking about the S20 Ultra in the latter case, which initially was suggested by the Korean company to only come in one variant, with 5G support on board. However, in the time that's passed since the official announcement on February 11, some local Samsung sites (such as this one in Indonesia) have listed something called the Galaxy S20 Ultra LTE. And that, as its name handily implies, does not connect to any 5G network. It's unclear if the... |
