After the launch of the Realme 5 and Realme 5 Pro last week, we sat down with Realme India CEO Madhav Sheth to learn more about the company's plans regarding the Snapdragon 855-powered smartphone, Realme OS, and Realme XT. You can check out the full interview below for all the details. Realme India CEO Madhav Sheth What's your opinion about the quick update cycle? Realme 3 Pro was launched four months back and now we have Realme 5 and 5 Pro. If you take Realme 3 and 3 Pro, I'd say Realme 3 is still priced at INR8,999 ($128/€115) which is INR1,000 ($15/€13) cheaper than Realme 5...

Don't just buy any 45W+ PD charger for your Samsung Galaxy Note10+

Posted: 25 Aug 2019 04:00 AM PDT

Samsung's new Galaxy Note10+ is exciting for more than a few reasons as our in-depth review shows, one of which being its 45W fast charging capabilities. Yet it ships with a 25W charger in the box so if you want to unlock its full potential you'll have to buy another one. If you are just here for the short version it goes like this: Due to a combination of high current requirements and the use of optional PPS technology the Galaxy Note10+ likely won't reach its advertised 45W charge rate with anything other than the official Samsung 45W charger. Now there might be...

Weekly poll: Realme 5 and 5 Pro want to claim the value for money crown

Posted: 25 Aug 2019 01:00 AM PDT

Realme is aggressively redefining the feature set we can expect from a €200 phone. The Realme 5 Pro uses the same 48MP sensor as the OnePlus 7 Pro (IMX586). And even though Xiaomi's Mi A3/CC9 matches the Realme on price and 48MP main camera, it loses out on screen resolution and chipset. Is Realme 5 Pro the best value-for-money phone out there? It certainly makes a strong case for itself with a 6.3" 1080p+ screen - okay, it's not AMOLED, but resolution boosts the perceived image quality. That's one point over the Xiaomi Mi A3, the chipset is another - Snapdragon 712 has faster CPU...

Weekly poll results: Ultrawide camera trumps telephoto by quite a margin

Posted: 24 Aug 2019 09:30 PM PDT

The masses have spoken and we can finally table the argument - which camera do we use most on our multi-camera smartphones. It comes as no surprise that the most-used camera on our phones is the main one - 60% of you voted in its favor. And it's the ultrawide-angle camera that is the second most-used on your phones, by a big margin. Twice as many people frequently snap ultrawide pics compared to those that zoom in. That puts into perspective just how popular ultrawide cameras are - it's no surprise that every maker out there (aside from Google) either has one or is scrambling to put...

Flashback: Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 or why the X-Panels weren't superheroes

Posted: 24 Aug 2019 06:00 PM PDT

There are few stories of meteoric rise and precipitous fall that can rival the tale of HTC, but Sony's mobile division offers just as many highs and lows. Today, it sells some Xperia - it shipped less than a million during the three months of Q2. How did we get here? Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 It all started with the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1, the first ever phone to bear the name. But it wasn't an Android device as you would expect today, it wasn't even a Sony Ericsson phone - it was designed and built by HTC. Windows Mobile 6.1 had to be dressed up with X-Panels to make its...

The Chinese tech giant expected to accumulate significant losses after it was put on the Entity List but now it has adjusted its prediction and it estimates its consumer business department will miss on $10 billion of revenue, a third lower than initial estimates.
