Flashback: Nokia N-Gage - the gaming phone ahead of its time Posted: 18 Aug 2019 04:00 AM PDT Sometimes a company launches the right product at the wrong time. The Nokia N-Gage is remembered simply as a failure today, but seeing how in 2019 companies are tripping over themselves to launch gaming phones, it's hard not to wonder if maybe Nokia was on to something. The N-Gage was released in 2003 as a competitor to Nintendo's Game Boy Advance (2001). In many ways it was a superior product, but in other ways it was deeply flawed. Among those flaws was the price - $300 was a huge premium over the $100 Game Boy. Nokia wasn't selling just a portable console, though, it was a... |
Weekly poll: What cameras do you use the most on your phone? Posted: 18 Aug 2019 01:00 AM PDT Excluding the odd iPhone XR or Pixel, every phone is doing the multi camera thing (and even those two are getting a second snapper soon). And that brings a lot of discussion as to which cameras we care about the most. Phones like the rumored Google Pixel 4 or the existing Samsung Galaxy S10e are great examples of the difference in taste when it comes to photography. The Pixel 4 will gain a telephoto camera instead of an ultrawide, while the Galaxy S10e has an ultrawide in place of a telephoto and that inevitably leaves people unhappy. The solution is simple - every phone should (and... |
Weekly poll results: Samsung Galaxy Note10+ better liked than the small Note10 Posted: 17 Aug 2019 09:30 PM PDT Last week we asked you a few questions. Are you getting a Samsung Galaxy Note10+ or Galaxy Note10 and if you would pay the premium for a 5G model or stick with LTE. Now the results are in and they are a bit surprising. Last year 19% half of you said they'd get a Galaxy Note9 but this year the results are flipped. Half of you said they're looking at competing phones, rather than the Galaxy Note10 duo. The larger Galaxy Note10+ is generally received better with 45% of you either committing to buy or wait for the price to drop, but the smaller Galaxy Note10 has been shunned in favor of the... |
Samsung Galaxy Note10+ in for review, camera samples inside Posted: 17 Aug 2019 06:00 PM PDT This is the Samsung Galaxy Note10+ - Samsung's fall flagship, its biggest screen phone so far and right now, its most important phone. The Galaxy Note10+ is an amalgamation of Samsung's best assets - it comes with three incredible cameras, a record-breaking screen, and certainly the best phone with a stylus. It's the most complete smartphone experience Samsung can offer and here's why. Whether you look at the Galaxy Note10+ from the front or the back, it's a gorgeous phone. The Aura Glow finish is a chameleon changing countless hues, depending on how the light hits it. And when you... |
The upcoming vivo NEX 3 will support 5G Posted: 17 Aug 2019 01:00 PM PDT Vivo's product manager, Li Xiang, just can't stop teasing the still unannounced vivo NEX 3 flagship smartphone. He already confirmed that the handset will have a "waterfall screen" and will retain the much-beloved 3.5mm audio jack. He was also bold enough to share some sketches of the phone's design. Today's order of the day, however, is 5G. The manager shared a partial screenshot of the home screen and it's hard not to notice the two 5G icons in the upper-left and the upper-right corner. Then again, the device will likely sport the newest Snapdragon 855+ chip, so it's only natural to... |

Nokia 7.2 renders show off the circular camera design and slim body Posted: 17 Aug 2019 09:00 AM PDT While we are still waiting for the Nokia 7.2 and 6.2 to be officially announced, we get to see the former in the latest case renders that surfaced online. The images show a rather slim design and a circular design of the camera module on the back. Everything on the renders seems to be in line with what we've seen so far. We also know that the Nokia 6.2 will sport similar looks so these renders work both ways. Nokia 7.2 case renders A quick rewind - we expect the handset to arrive with Snapdragon 710, 6GB of RAM and should be here by the end of this month if the initial rumors... |
