Posted: 14 Aug 2019 06:45 PM PDT

Last week we discovered that Apple is doing its best to deter you from replacing your iPhone's battery at any service center that isn't authorized by it for that purpose. Regardless of whether you'd replace your battery at a third-party service center with a non-official part, or even an official Apple battery, once you'd turn on the iPhone you'd keep seeing an error message in Settings. Like this: Today Apple has responded to the controversy surrounding this tactic, saying the following, in a statement sent to iMore: We take the safety of our customers very seriously and want to...

Posted: 14 Aug 2019 06:00 PM PDT

Sony's Xperia 1 launched in the US about one month ago, and its recommended retail price has been a whopping $949.99. Yes you can do that, but there are some things to keep in mind. First off, this is an Amazon exclusive deal. Second, you need to be a member of...

About 50 million foldable phones will be shipped in 2024

Posted: 14 Aug 2019 05:15 PM PDT

IHS Markit is out with another market analysis and this time it's about foldable phones. The research cites that smartphones with foldable screens will reach 50 million sales in 2024. The technology still hasn't matured and we are yet to see wider adoption of OLED screens. Don't get us wrong, though - the OLED panels' market share continues to grow and it's making its way down to the low-end and mid-range...

Fitbit Versa 2 leaks, will feature Amazon Alexa integration, still no GPS

Posted: 14 Aug 2019 03:45 PM PDT

The Fitbit Versa was a hit in Q1 this year, but its popularity cooled off in Q2. The Versa Lite fizzled out almost immediately. In other words, now is a good time for a new model - and as luck would have it, this leak gives us a preview of what is coming. The Fitbit Versa 2 will feature Amazon Alexa integration A big addition seems to be the Amazon Alexa integration. There was an Alexa skill for the original Versa, but that only allowed you to ask your Echo how many steps you've taken today (and other such info). The Versa 2 will let you talk to Alexa directly, so you don't need...
