Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 may have a 64MP camera, Mi A3 spotted at the FCC with 48MP camera

Posted: 05 Jul 2019 06:45 AM PDT

The Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 will have a camera that will have a better sensor than Samsung's 64MP ISOCELL Bright GW1, said Xiaomi's Product Director Wang Teng in comment on Weibo, which has since been deleted. Sony is yet to announce a 64MP sensor (though we're sure one is coming), so there are no direct alternatives. Not yet at least. Of course "better" is pretty vague when it comes to image sensors - it could mean it's larger or has improved light sensitivity, it's not all about resolution. Realme has already confirmed that it's working on a 64MP phone with the Samsung GW1 sensor, which...

Posted: 04 Jul 2019 07:00 PM PDT

If yesterday's deal on Google's Pixel 3 XL didn't impress you, or if you simply don't want to spend that much on a new phone, perhaps you'd be interested in its predecessor instead? We ask because at the moment you can grab an unlocked 128GB Pixel 2 XL from Rakuten for just $339.96. That's around $200 less than you'd pay for the Pixel 3 XL at the same retailer, and about $260 off the price of the Pixel 2 XL in most other places that sell it. We're talking about a brand new device here, not used. And while it might be old, it has the exact same amount of RAM as any newer Google Pixel...

Night Sight is one of the best features of the Google Camera, yet it's not easily accessible - you have to go into the More screen (or wait for the automatic suggestion to show up). That will change with the next version of the app (v6.3), which leaked as part of the upcoming Android Q beta build. Night Sight replaces the Panorama mode from the main selector, so now it goes Night Sight, Portrait, Camera, Video and More. The Panorama is inside the More screen, where Night Sight used to be. Samsung Galaxy A50 gets a respectable camera score in DxOMark testing

Posted: 04 Jul 2019 09:30 AM PDT

The Samsung Galaxy A50 is one of the few mid-rangers with a triple-camera setup on its back and according to DxOMark's testing and scoring, it's actually better than some of the older flagship phones out there. The total score is 83, which is by no means flagship-worthy by 2019 standards but it is on par with the LG G7 ThinQ and just a point or two shy of the Nokia 8 Sirocco and Apple iPhone 7. Breaking down the score, the phone did pretty well in the stills department managing 85 points and relatively worse for video with 79. Great color reproduction, wide dynamic range, good...
