The latest horse in that particular race is the second Republic of Gamers smartphone by Asus, called shortly ROG Phone II. These try to incorporate some of the features from the higher-end model, the WH-1000XM3, including things like active noise cancellation and a gesture-based control system. In this review we will learn how the XB900N sound, how comfortable they are, how all the different features work, and whether or not they are worth your money. Design The XB900N design is a cross between the 1000XM3 and the XB700, both of which we have reviewed in the past. The design of the back of the ear cups resembles that of the... |
Weekly poll results: Xiaomi Mi A3 gets the cold shoulder Posted: 28 Jul 2019 03:00 AM PDT The Mi A3 arrived as this year's Android One phone by Xiaomi. The predecessor Mi A2 was met with great enthusiasm, but it appears the camera focused Xiaomi Mi A3 isn't getting anywhere near the same approval rating. Plenty of you voiced concerns about specs like the HD+ screen and the fact that you can get mightier Xiaomi phones at a similar price. The Xiaomi Mi 9T is a bit above 350, but many of our readers think you better pay up and massively upgrade instead of settle for the Mi A3. Others were saying that the device should be called Mi A3 Lite, as it feels somewhat of a... |
Flashback: Project Ara promised easy to upgrade modular phones but never delivered Posted: 28 Jul 2019 12:00 AM PDT The IBM PC was unveiled in 1981 and thanks to a strange decision by IBM, it became the granddaddy of most desktop and laptop computers today. Instead of making everything in-house (as with previous IBM projects), the design team decided to outsource as much as possible. This led to an open platform that allowed other companies to build accessories, write software and even build entire "IBM PC Compatibles". Since the PC used an Intel processor (8088) and Microsoft software (PC-DOS and Microsoft BASIC), this was the birth of the "Wintel" behemoth. Mobile phones never really had an "IBM... |

ZTE patents a smartphone with dual selfie camera and slider design Posted: 27 Jul 2019 08:00 PM PDT Last month ZTE filed a patent for a smartphone with dual punch-hole cameras. And now, this Chinese phone maker has filed another patent for a smartphone rocking a slider design and two selfie cameras. The front glass of the handset itself doesn't house the selfie cameras, as they are revealed when you slide the screen down. Sliding it up uncovers what looks like a speaker grille. Perhaps room for some extra controls? Around the back, the phone has a dual camera setup placed vertically in the upper-left corner, with the flash located right below. There's also an oval-shaped fingerprint... |
Samsung Galaxy Buds are getting a new silver color to go with the Note10 family Posted: 27 Jul 2019 06:00 PM PDT If you've been around these past few weeks then you have definitely already seen the stunning new "Aura Glow" color of the upcoming Galaxy Note 10+. And what better way to compliment a shiny new phone than a shiny new pair of truly wireless headphones. The Galaxy Buds are already listed on a few of Samsung's regional websites in the new "silver" finish. The color effect appears to be identical to that on the upcoming Note10 and renders probably don't do it justice. Samsung Galaxy Buds in silver Besides the color, though, there seems to be no change in the new Galaxy Buds.... |
LG V30 starts receiving Android Pie update Posted: 27 Jul 2019 04:00 PM PDT Google is expected to release the stable build of Android Q next month, but there are some brands still struggling to provide last year's Android Pie for their smartphones. One of them is LG, which is now rolling out the Pie update for the V30. The new build is seeding in Europe for units with model number H930. It carries version number PKQ1.190414.001 and includes the July 1, 2019 security patch. Huawei says the Mate X is still not ready for market Posted: 27 Jul 2019 02:00 PM PDT It's been over five months now since the official unveiling of the foldable Huawei Mate X at MWC 2019. And despite not having to go through durability issues and an overblown media scandal like its Samsung Galaxy Fold rival, it is still not released to the public. In fact, as per a recent interview with He Gang, director of Huawei's consumer business mobile phone line, the Mate X sounds about as comparably unfinished to the Galaxy Fold and still some time away from sales. According to He Gang, Huawei is still busy "optimizing/perfecting" the Mate X to meet the company's strict quality... |
Another leaked Huawei Mate 30 Pro screen protector shows big notch and massive curvature Posted: 27 Jul 2019 12:00 PM PDT Despite Huawei keeping a tight lip on the topic, the Mate 30 and 30 Pro are coming. The latter has already been spotted in the wild an this is not the first time we have seen an alleged screen protector for the upcoming phone either. Mate30 Pro pic.twitter.com/vtQTpQ80M4 Ice universe (@UniverseIce) July 27, 2019 First off, to get the obvious bit out of the way - YES, the massive notch, like the one on the Mate 20 Pro is apparently sticking around. Unlike the glass screen protector leaked earlier, the one pictured here simply has one big cut-out, instead of individual holes for... |
Leaked vivo iQOO Plus 5G banner reveals pricing and just 44W fast charging Posted: 27 Jul 2019 10:00 AM PDT Last month vivo spilled the beans on a few of its interesting ongoing projects and upcoming products. Chief among these was the company's first commercial 5G phone, expected to launch under their iQOO brand as the iQOO 5G. 5G buzz-words aside though, the thing that got most of us excited at said event was the extra info on the company's eagerly-anticipated 120W fast charging technology. Putting two and two together, it really seemed like vivo FlashCharge 120W would make its debut on the iQOO 5G. A freshly leaked banner, however, kind a throws a curve ball our way with its confusing... |
