Samsung Galaxy S10e also gets Prism Silver color, no longer exclusive to S10+ Posted: 01 Jul 2019 07:30 AM PDT A rare color for the Samsung Galaxy S10e has surfaced - Prism Silver. This is related to the Prism Silver of the limited edition Galaxy S10+ (and different from the Crown Silver color, which is exclusive to the Galaxy S10 5G). Here's a comparison with the current Prism White color of the S10e and the Crown Silver of S10 5G: Samsung Galaxy S10e in Prism Silver and Prism White Galaxy S10 5G in Crown Silver Besides a couple of Dutch stores, the Galaxy S10e in Prism Silver can also be seen at Samsung Romania and Samsung UAE. This color is quite interesting and not just for...
US companies can only sell widely available products to Huawei Posted: 01 Jul 2019 06:45 AM PDT The presidents of the United States and China met during the weekend, and decided to reopen trade negotiations in which Huawei was a bargaining chip between both sides. The initial ban from late May was mitigated and now the White House will allow US companies to trade technology that is widely available on the market. The National Economic Council chairman Larry Kudlow said on Fox News Sunday that microchip firms in particular "are selling products that are widely available from other countries", meaning that if some hardware or technology can be found at another market, companies...

The phone was the best performer last month and still holds a narrow lead over the Xiaomi Black Shark 2, which came in second place. Rounding out the top-three is another Xiaomi phone - the Mi 9 Explorer. Xiaomi's domination of the chart continues with the Xiaomi Mi 9 which came in fourth, closely followed by the OnePlus 7 Pro and Meizu 16s. The OnePlus 7 and Redmi K20 Pro come in at the seven and eight spots. Rounding out the top ten are Samsung's Galaxy... |
Japan's restricted export of key chemicals to South Korea might be a blow to Samsung, LG Posted: 01 Jul 2019 04:30 AM PDT Japan will restrict the export to South Korea of key chemicals used in the production of electronics, reports Japanese newspaper Sankei. This comes after a South Korea's Supreme Court ruled last year that Koreans have not been properly compensated by Japanese companies for the forced labor during World War II. The materials in question are fluorinated polyimide (used in smartphone and TV displays), resist (used when soldering chips to PCBs) and high-purity hydrogen fluoride (used in etching semiconductors). Japan produces 90% of the world's fluorinated polyimide and 70% of the resist,...
Xiaomi Mi CC9e tested on Geekbench with 6GB of RAM Posted: 01 Jul 2019 03:45 AM PDT The Xiaomi Mi CC9e has reportedly been tested on Geekbench ahead of its July 2 unveil. The subsequent screenshot from the benchmark run doesn't reveal all that much - the Mi CC9e runs Android 9 Pie, has 6GB of RAM and an eight-ocre 1.8GHz chipset. Judging by the single and multi-core results the Xiaomi Mi CC9e could have a Snapdragon 710 or possibly a Snapdragon 632 chip under the hood. We know the Xiaomi Mi CC9e differs from the Mi CC9 in that it has a 6.08-inch and not a 6.39-inch screen, but the rest of the specs are as of yet unknown. #Xiaomi MI CC 9e Spotted on #Geekbench...
Google prepares Fast Share, the replacement of Android Beam Posted: 01 Jul 2019 03:00 AM PDT Google has removed support for Android Beam from Android Q and it's going to replace it with a feature called Fast share. This seems to be the same tech that's currently available in the Google Files app. Starting Fast Share Picking a recipient Sending Complete Fast Share works without an Internet connection. There's no tap phones to share here, you see a list of nearby devices (this required Bluetooth and Location to be turned on). Once you pick a receiving device and they accept, the data is transferred over Wi-Fi. Notification Receiving Complete The...
Honor 20 Pro Moschino Edition arrives tomorrow Posted: 01 Jul 2019 02:15 AM PDT The Honor 20 series were launched in London in the midst of a trade war between the United States and China, taking Huawei's business as a hostage during the negotiations. The 20 Pro got a special Moschino edition, but a launch date wasn't announced. Finally the gaudy units are ready though as they were listed for sale on Vmall.com - Huawei's own online store. The phone comes with a new design and an updated price tag, and will be launched in its first flash sale tomorrow - July 2. The new device is essentially an Honor 20 Pro in Phantom Black color but with a golden sign on the...

Sony is preparing an Xperia 2 right in time for IFA 2019 Posted: 01 Jul 2019 12:00 AM PDT Sony introduced the Xperia 1 at MWC in February, and it might release a follow up at IFA in Berlin. Two new phones with model numbers J8210 and J8010 appeared in UAProf files, while another leakster linked to code names SPHINX and HORUS with 5G modems. J8210 and J8010 spotted in UAProf files We are pretty sure the J8210 is the next star of Sony since the current Xperia 1 carries the model number J8110. Our assumption is the new device will be called Xperia 2, but we could also see Xperia 1 Premium, Xperia 1 5G or something else entirely. An earlier leak suggested a phone...
Redmi K20 series sold in 1 million units Posted: 30 Jun 2019 11:05 PM PDT Xiaomi's Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro sold 200,000 units in their first flash sale, and today the company announced that the duo reached 1 million sales. The series was introduced on May 28, which means the company needed just 4-5 flash sales to push over a million smartphones. The numbers might have even been higher, but the production capacity is seemingly limited at this point - the Pro version isn't even available outside China yet. To celebrate the seven-digit sales, Redmi brand manager Lu Weibing announced promo sales in China - every buyer of a Redmi K20 smartphone will get...
Posted: 30 Jun 2019 08:00 PM PDT A lot like the Xiaomi Mi 9, but lighter and smaller. Also comes without the 3.5 mm audio jack and with more modest chipset and price - that's the Xiaomi Mi 9 SE's short story. Now that the phone is with us we will try and tell you the long one once we take it through our full testing procedure. You even might think SE stands for Small Edition, because it doesn't look that special. But when we tinkered around a little more, we realized it is a very snappy phone, with its Snapdragon 712 chipset and the 6 GB RAM. The weight of 155 grams and the small footprint will...
Top 10 trending phones of week 26 Posted: 30 Jun 2019 04:00 PM PDT It's been a while since we had a week as calm as this one. With no major launches or aggressive promo campaigns most of the phones on our chart have retained their positions. The Samsung Galaxy A50 leads ahead of its Galaxy A70 sibling, followed by a trio of Xiaomi phones. This time around though the Redmi Note 7 is the one to take the bronze medal, while the Xiaomi Mi 9T has dropped down to fifth. The Redmi K20 Pro still splits those two, taking the fourth spot for the third week in a row now. Samsung Galaxy M40 and Galaxy A30 are exactly where we left them last week - sixth...
Week 26 in review: The under-screen camera is here but it's not great Posted: 30 Jun 2019 12:00 PM PDT While there weren't many big smartphones announcements this week, there were plenty of very interesting stories. Starting off with Oppo and the reveal of the first under display selfie camera. It has a large sensor with resulting large pixels but its image quality isn't great and it might take some time before it makes it to an actual product. Still, it is an exciting development in the long battle for the full-screen phone. We saw official press renders of upcoming Xiaomi CC9 as well as invitations for its July 2 unveil. The specs include a 48MP main camera as well as a 32MP...
