| AT&T LG V35 ThinQ is now receiving Android 9 Pie update Posted: 19 Jun 2019 07:15 PM PDT LG is definitely anything but the fastest to roll out big Android updates to its devices, but once it (finally) gets the ball rolling, it's, well... on a roll. Like now, for instance. The update to Android 9 Pie has recently gone out to the V40 - unlocked, on AT&T, or Verizon - as well as the G7. So today LG and AT&T have added the V35 ThinQ to the party. This model is now receiving its very own taste of Pie, following the initial rollout in South Korea back in April. It's a 1.46GB download so make sure you have a decent connection when you want to grab it. Once you install the new... |
| Xiaomi caught stealing artist's work commissioned by LG Posted: 19 Jun 2019 06:15 PM PDT It's not the first time we hear something about a Chinese company ripping off somebody's work - as Jeremy Clarkson once put it, "copyright infringment doesn't translate terribly well in Mandarin". Also, Xiaomi has been open about following Apple's marketing strategy and design for years. Yet now that the company has outgrown that phase it's somewhat disappointing to learn Xiaomi took Peter Tarka's work (a 3D artist) without permission. To make matters worse, the image was actually commissioned by its rival LG. You can see the two images below and how (almost) identical they are. Some... |
| Premium phone market slumps, Apple still holds half of it Posted: 19 Jun 2019 05:15 PM PDT Counterpoint reports that the market for premium smartphones shrunk 8% globally during the first three months of 2019. It defines smartphones as "premium" based on their price - over $400. Apple's shipments tumbled 20% year on year. Part of the reason is that buyers are holding on to their iPhones for longer - the average is now 3 years while it was once 2 years. Another factor is lower shipments in China. While North America remains the largest market for premium phones (30%), China is close behind (26%). However, the Chinese market was sluggish in the first quarter, which was the... |

The pop-up selfie camera is driven up and down by a stepper motor, a design that should be familiar enough by now. The rear camera has two modules - the 48MP main cam and the telephoto cam come as a unit, the ultra wide-angle camera is on a separate module. The complicated-looking motherboard wraps around all that. It houses the Snapdragon 730 chipset and memory, plus the heat spreader. The Huawei logo is not visible, but it is most likely on the bottom, meaning the physical Home... |
