| Lenovo Z6 Pro 5G will come will have a transparent back variant Posted: 24 May 2019 09:00 AM PDT It's clear that the Lenovo Z6 Pro will have a 5G-capable variant down the road and the company's VP teased on Weibo that the 5G iteration will also have a transparent back version of its own called Explorer Edition. It's definitely a nice touch and judging by the renders, the Z6 Pro will be a looker. It's not clear (no pun intended), however, if the back will be transparent so you can peek into the internals directly or there will be an illustrative sticker like the Xiaomi Mi 8's Explorer. We hope it will be the former. To remind you, the Z6 Pro 5G will come with dual-SIM... |

| Technically, the OnePlus 7 Pro's telephoto cam doesn't have 3x optical zoom Posted: 24 May 2019 06:02 AM PDT Looks like it's OnePlus 5 all over again. If you remember the advertised 2x zoom on the OnePlus 5 that was achieved with an actual 1.6x optical zoom and the rest of the 0.4x zoom was delivered by the so-called SmartCapture multi-frame technology. Well, it appears that the OnePlus 7 Pro has a similar trick up its sleeve. An in-depth Android Police investigation reveals that OnePlus 7 Pro's telephoto camera doesn't have 3x optical zoom but instead something in the ballpark of 2.2x while the remaining 0.8x is achieved by cropping. No digital zoom has been used, however, so that's why there's... |

| Trump: Huawei is "very dangerous" but also "would be included in some kind of trade deal" Posted: 24 May 2019 02:10 AM PDT Last week, the US government issued a total ban of Huawei from working with American companies, thus forcing Google to briefly revoke Huawei's license to use Android's Google Play Services and blocking it from the Android Q beta program. ARM, Qualcomm, and the SD Association have followed suit, effectively and crippling the #2 global phone maker. The US and China have been in an ongoing trade war since Trump's administration began increasing tariffs on Chinese imports to the US and China rebutting with tariff increases of its own for American goods in China. The Huawei Mate 9 and... |

| Asus Zenfone 4 Max and Zenfone 4 Selfie get a taste of Android 9 Pie through beta builds Posted: 23 May 2019 09:30 PM PDT With the newly launched Zenfone 6, Asus has completely revamped its ZenUI Android skin, making it among the lightest out there - whereas before it was quite heavy on the customizations. This signifies an interesting strategy change for the company, which seems to be embracing a OnePlus-like philosophy now, when it comes to software. That said, the new ZenUI 6 still isn't "stock Android" per se. On the other hand, Asus has outed a beta build of Android 9 Pie for the Zenfone 4 Max ZC554KL and the Zenfone 4 Selfie (both ZB553KL and ZD553KL models). And this, weirdly enough, is a stock-like... |

Called the GFX100, this new body comes with a 102MP sensor, built-in image stabilization, phase detection AF and 4K video recording. At the heart of this beast is the new 102MP 55mm medium format sensor. A medium format sensor sits between the standard 35mm full frame sensor and a large format sensor. These sensors are normally used in cameras that have much more professional applications and often required for printing on a massive scale, such as for billboards. Coupled with the 102MP sensor is the Fujifilm X-Processor 4 processor.... |

| TSMC will continue making chips for Huawei Posted: 23 May 2019 04:00 PM PDT Huawei's HiSilicon subsidiary is fabbing its chipsets and modems at the TSMC foundries and it will continue to do so. A TSMC spokesperson said that the company will continue working with Huawei, despite many others cutting ties. Among them is ARM. The Kirin chipsets use ARM designs for both the CPU (Cortex) and GPU (Mali), so this is a huge blow. However, HiSilicon should still be able to produce current models and perhaps even the next chipset in the pipeline. A source at ARM told the BBC that the Kirin 985 should be unaffected by the ban. This chip was most likely bound for the Huawei... |

The 2019 iPhones are expected to feature minor design changes with triple camera sensors on the back of the flagships and a dual offering on the XR successor. The... |

That means mostly the same as a Pixel 3/3 XL (including the widely-renowned main camera) at half the price. But Google's latest ads for the Pixel 3a shine a light that the Pixel 3a also costs less than half as much as an iPhone XS , claiming that Phone X "Has Google" for $999 while Pixel 3a "Is Google" for $399. What that means is that while iOS has all the Google Apps you'd want - like Photos, Maps, Assistant, Home, Calendar, Gmail - they're just apps and aren't built into the OS.... |
