OnePlus 7 Pro's Zen Mode will make it to the 6T and 6, Nightscape 2.0 won't

Posted: 15 May 2019 09:00 PM PDT

The OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro ship with OxygenOS 9.5, which has a few new features compared to the 9.0 builds that are still powering the OnePlus 6T from last year. Obviously 9.5 is still based on Android 9 Pie, but it comes with stuff such as Zen Mode - a feature that, when turned on, won't let you use your phone for 20 minutes (aside from receiving calls and making emergency calls and using the camera). And it's impossible to turn off before the time runs out. Why anyone would need anything like this on their phone is a debate for another time, the point is - this is coming to the...

Here are Samsung's improvements to the Galaxy Fold

Posted: 15 May 2019 05:00 PM PDT

Samsung has been tirelessly working on improving the Galaxy Fold after it temporarily suspended its release rollout plans, following a bunch of problems that surfaced when the reviews came out. And now a report from its home country of Korea details those improvements. The company has apparently solved both of the main issues that were reported - stuff (such as dirt, lint, dust, sand, and so on) being able to get into the hinge and lodge beneath the display, causing lasting damage; as well as people being driven to remove a protective layer that sat on top of the display because it looked...

Apple's new marketing campaign in India says the iPhone 6s is "incredible"

Posted: 15 May 2019 01:00 PM PDT

Apple hasn't been doing very well in India, sales-wise, and the company is now looking to change its fortunes by banking on the iPhone 6s. That's not a typo, we really do mean the phone that made its debut in September of 2015. Apple's newest handsets are quite expensive (and that's an understatement) in the subcontinent, whereas the iPhone 6s starts at "just" INR 26,910 - the equivalent of $382 or €341 at the current exchange rates. That's great for an iPhone, but considering what the Android competition is offering at or around that price point, it remains to be seen how successful...

OnePlus 7 hands-on review

Posted: 15 May 2019 11:00 AM PDT

Yesterday OnePlus released its 7 Pro new flagship amid huge fanfare. That phone is a huge step for the maker as it aims to compete with the big guys on features rather than by just undercutting the price. But OnePlus also introduced the OnePlus 7 and a good argument can be made that it's the one to actually better represent the spirit of the OnePlus lineup. Here's why. The OnePlus 7 may seem severely watered down compared to the OnePlus 7 Pro, but it really isn't. It makes do with a smaller screen - 6.41-inch compared to 6.67-inch - with a lower resolution and regular 60Hz refresh...

Asus takes a jab at OnePlus ahead of Zenfone 6 announcement

Posted: 15 May 2019 09:30 AM PDT

Asus took a thinly-veiled jab at OnePlus disguised as math - the Zenfone 6 will have a 5,000mAh battery, which is larger than the 3,700mAh capacity of the OnePlus 7. It's interesting that Asus didn't target the OnePlus 7 Pro, even though the "greater than" sign would still point towards the Zenfone (the Pro has a 4,000mAh battery). Asus takes a not-so-subtle swipe at OnePlus This seems to be about price - the OnePlus 7 Pro starts at €700, the non-Pro at €550. Leaked prices put the new Zenfone 6 at under €600. Remember that last year the Asus Zenfone 5z was the cheapest S845 phone in...
